I used high temp "VHT wrinkle plus" black paint, got it from a local spares shop here. Saw a couple of UK cars with it so just had to do it! I know cable shift would be the go if you want to go for big hp but for now the TDi 020 gearbox will do. The K04-001 is the is almost the same as the K03s it just holds boost a bit longer. Will try to extract every last hp out of it!! Is that 249 whp?Originally posted by tommymac View PostYer man, i used a ACT clutch and its great, my 020 is OK touch wood and i just laid down 249 hp, nice paint man what did you use?
I think if you want hard starts though you need an 02a with pelo and 020 would die in the ass with a lsd IMO.
230hp from the Peng boys is a tad overstated imo, i mean with a ok tune at 15psi mine pulled 249hp and thats with a gt28rs which is **** loads bigger than a k03s, still mine had a massive boost leak so who know i would be keen to see yours done tho mate its looks fing great.
Cheers

wheels or flywheel? your sentence if confusing sorryOriginally posted by tommymac View Postyer sweet it looks tits man,
yer 249 at the wheels was their reading at the fly? 020 TDI what are they from? all o2o's are cable shift tho! unless there the mk4 ones?
020's are rod change by the way. Even upto Mk4
TDI 020's would be as the name suggests. Turbo diesel mk3's at a guess.

ah yer ok are they stronger? Mate an agu with a k04 is nothing to sneeze at in a mk1 you will smash things on a rolling start! Off the line its just FWD fail unless you have a LSD but then you will need a 02a and 100mm axles as you will start crunching stuff. To be fair with the k03 the car has a feel nice feel and was great, no its raw as hell but still great. You will love it mateOriginally posted by dubsquad View PostTommy, mine is from an early mk3 TDI which uses the smaller input shaft with bigger bearing (same as Loon's Scirocco) but with the longer gears i might have to add a dose of N20 to get through them quicker!!90 GTI Mk2 1.8t soon to be with GT28rs

The TDI gearboxes are made to handle alot more torque than the normal petrol 020's, the one i'm using got the 100mm axles. For this gearbox i'll just buy an ARP diff bolt kit and leave the LSD for when i change to Cable shift.Originally posted by tommymac View Postah yer ok are they stronger? Diesel tank is available but you will have to buy the whole car sans engine and transmission , he wants $100 for it Leigh. lemme know what your wish to do. If I knew you were after a tank I could have prob got you a new one last UK trip...Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...
If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??
Cheers,
Grant...

mate, if i had the space i would buy it and just chuck the 1600 engine and gearbox in it. I got a tank from Golfloon tho but that wouldve been good as a second project.Originally posted by roccodingo View PostDiesel tank is available but you will have to buy the whole car sans engine and transmission , he wants $100 for it Leigh. lemme know what your wish to do. Somewhat of a update:
Finally got someone to make a spacer for the tensioner.

Tensioner fitted with new timing belt.

Gave the gearbox a bit of a clean today and while turning it over some of the fluid dripped out, so what type or brand of transmission fluid would you guys recommend for the 020's?
Cheers

Redline oil for the box. MT90 I think for 020s MTL for 02As.

OK, did some work last couple days. Changed the release bearing and input shaft seals on the gearbox. The small seal inside the shaft was a b**** to get out!
The pressure plate bolted on...

Clutch aligned and eurospec flywheel torque'd up...

Gearbox bolted on...

Now if the turbo will just find it's way here , then i can have a crack at putting this bad boy in!
Ah well the long wait....
