I had a lightened FW on my A3 from Matt, can't say for sure that it made much difference to the drive. It went on before the JBS04 and I still had standard software.
You did have to be pretty steady taking off even with 225s on the front. Once rolling in second traction wasn't a problem.

Will be interesting to see it effects,if it doesn't work I think it will suit the mk1's 02a,re turbo I honestly am gonna stick with the ko3 till at least the mk1's done,can't find any more cash to throw at it,having said that I have ordered some ecs big brakes(couldn't help my self with the strong AUD)

yer there is a lot of talk about spool up and so on but i can see both sides to the story, and in my mind less load and less weight is a good thing,and im sure the boost will come

A mate of mine has a GT2871R on his SR20DET in an N15 Pulsar. Flywheel weight is about 4kg, and has the quicker r&p plus shorter 1-4. The thing multiplies torque way too much, 1st and 2nd is pointless. It revs way too quick, full boost is in the 3-3.5k range (has the .64 rear housing)

Don't think the FW has much bearing on turbo spool up time...or maybe just can't tell with something this big?

On idle it's weird, very rough and hunts. We attribute it to the FW (unless there is some other issue)

You did well to put that intercooler in early on, what I've found with these and the GTI's mk4 with the same motor is that the stock intercooler really does stuff you up when tuning. The thing is so small and the pipework so shyte that the temps rise radically and the tune that you thought was great the day before turns out to be not so good the next day if the temps are higher. Intake temps soar on the dyno too even when running a secondary fan toward the core, the last one Mk4 with a K04 was seeing 50 degree inlet temps after only a few runs. Power drops as the ecu compensates and your back to where you were before. With a K03 being so small the problem is exaggerated a bit too if you up the boost, the temps rise as it becomes less and less efficient and you end up with a hair dryer and a motor that is likely ping where it never did before. These cars need an FMIC. I was toying with the idea of running a high volume PC fan over the core with a waterspray and I know it would work well for stockish but your still only putting of the inevitable swap especially if you go to something manly

If he's running aftermarket like say a powerFC and the timing or even fueling is a bit off in adjacent cells at idle then the lightened flywheel might let it travel to quickly to the next cell and it keeps playing a cat and mouse game while it trys and stabilise. It happens with stock flywheels but a lightened one will just make it more apparent. If its a stock ECU thats pretty unusual

shoehorned the 6 1/2 in only just though, tweeter were a little easier not gonna win any sound offs but a nice improvement over factory
