With the 3 engine rule for 2008, Evans has already used up one so he will have to be careful.
Give him heaps! I am sure he will be very interested in the Polo, given his VW days in the past.

Why did they use a Polo and not a R32?

R32 doesn't fit into any of the class rules. Pretty sure 2L is the limit for WRC and the S2000 class, seems logical to run the polo chassis.

Anyone know what the figure was to buy a road going version of this car?

Polo GTI is as close as it comes from the factory. It uses a completely different engine to ours, I would imagine the entire car would need to be stripped and all parts added.

Other then that not really sure what you mean?

There's no such animal (as a road-going version of the S2000). If you wanted to buy an S2000 Polo ... you're talking about approx. $200k.

That's what I thought, are they road legal?

Hmm ... good question. In Aus? ... probably not (ADRs) ... that'd be my guess.

Yep, they have to be road legal. Most of the stages are on closed public roads and to get to and from stages they travel on public roads.

They are probably some of the safest well put together cars on the road if you think about it.

Road "legal", but not ADR compliant. Often only registered for the period of an event, which involves use of public roads.
