During the last sessions Greg's group and mine got combined so we were able to do a few laps in each others sight.
Unusually they were allowing passenger sessions today, here's Greg and I comparing the differences between petrol and diesel technique.

And here's a few pics of white cross posted from my Wreck to Race thread.
My car was playing up a bit with fueling issues about 2 laps into each round. I suspect float levels and needle/seat issues again.
Still got some good laps in, just retired early in each round.
White's sporting a new look, I've ditched the bumper to gain some airflow through the extra openings behind the bumper.
I also gave the nose a clean up, with a quick strip back and respray after hitting some debris out at Phillip Island and tearing the spoiler mounts out.

Sadly, White's misfire prevented Peter from setting a proper time for the day and the PoD ended slightly faster for once (and probably the last time it'll happen too). http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/re...15/04/2012.SAN
A great day and the Sandown circuit was much more enjoyable than I had feared from looking at the track layout - the rise and fall across the back give it some real character. The friendly kerbs were a big plus and I managed to use most of them at some point in the day. It just too bad there weren't more VWs out there.
The PoD would probably still have looked dirty even if I washed it beforehand due to some offroading I did at turn 1 during the practice sessionI still don't think the colour of the wheels matches the car very well (they'd be the business on a red car) but that was low on the priority list when I bought them. Steering seems a little more dead than with the OEM wheels which may be the reduced offset but I'm not complaining
And finally, thanks to Jodie for yet again documenting another day at play.

So is anyone else doing the double this weekend - VSSC Rd 3 @ Sandown (Sunday) and Tampered Motorsports @ Winton (Monday)?
It looks like the weather will clear up just in timeResident grumpy old fart

Peter: What's Sandown like to drive in a relatively under powered car? Im tempted to give it a go over there but the two main straights give me the feeling that im not gonna have as much fun, compared to say... Winton or a hillclimb circuit?

I had the same impression from looking at the circuit map - 2 longs straights (with me in a diesel) and a lot of 90 degree bends had me thinking it would be dull.
I actually found it a lot of fun as the back straight goes up a fair hill so the twisty section returning to the main straight has quite a lot of fall which makes the 90 degree corners a lot more fun than the flat ones at Winton's new long circuit (the old short circuit there is far more fun). The other thing that helps Sandown is that the kerbs are VERY friendly so you can use them at entry, apex and exit to extend the corners and even climbing completely on top of them isn't a concern.Resident grumpy old fart
