Yikes! Getting "light" at that speed would really make you feel alive!
Too bad you couldn't make it up for this weekend's Winton run, Adzy. Then you could beat me up about the Senna movie
But it looks like you had a pretty neat time at Sandown.
Resident grumpy old fart VW - Metallic Paint, Radial Tyres, Laminated Windscreen, Electric Windows, VW Alloy Wheels, Variable Geometry Exhaust Driven Supercharger, Direct Unit Fuel Injection, Adiabatic Ignition, MacPherson Struts front, Torsion Beam rear, Coil Springs, Hydraulic Dampers, Front Anti-Roll Bar, Disc Brakes, Bosch ECU, ABS
Yeah im spewing would have gone to winton but too close to the sandown track day.. give my car a chance to lick its wounds. Whats this about the Senna movie?
I'm doing Winton with another S3 on October 30.
Come along.
Would be good to see some more VAG there.
The first track day I ever did was at Winton.
Have done 3 (4 this weekend) at Sandown since so looking forward to getting back out to Winton.
Adzy, what is your best time around Sandown?
Who is running the event on October 30? Will there be timing gear provided?
We all love to see a bit of VAG... if I am free I will try and head up, hanging to go back to Winton.
At Sandown I started off doing 1:45's and after my suspension work and better tyres, plus more experience, I have them down to the 1:31 - 1:33 mark. My GPS timer told me one lap was a 1:30.9

Winton on the 30th is with the WRX club again.
Yes, timing is done through Natsoft and you need CAMS LS2 and a club membership, etc.
Would be good to have you come along.
Not sure on pricing but considering this Saturday at Sandown is $190, i imagine the Winton will be cheaper.
Nice time in the end there, looking forward to some proper timing on Saturday to see how i go.

Nice vids Adzy.
These are with Oneal Events?
What is the price, etc?
I'm guessing it is not times and no CAMS is required?
You seem to have a MUCH, MUCH better selection of cars than the Driver Dynamic days and I would prefer to be running with that bunch of cars than the WRX club.
Wouldn't mind teeing up for some days with you boys.
Sorry bro I totally missed this post? Yeah oneal events mate and the cost is $390 and no CAMS is required. The price is steep but there is coffee and catering plus about 7 race drivers/instructors who are available all day, the events are invite only also.. you could contact him though I guess. Usualy the driving is top notch with no tardy drivers.
Fantastic day on Saturday.
Official Natsoft timing had my best run of 1:30.9 which was on the final lap of the last session.
Was hoping to break 1:30 but had a ****head in a 350Z who would line up first for our group for every session by lining up at the back of the last group.
His best lap was a 1:34 and due to a crash (massive write off) no body was allowed to over take turn 5 to Dandenong Rd.
He finally got blue flagged (still didn't let me pass) but I got around him at turn 1.
I also noted that i was red lining in 3rd between turns 1 and 2 but finally realised at the last session that I can comfortably take 1 in 4th allowing me to down into 3rd for turn 2.
I also realised that turning traction control off (but leaving ESP on) prevented power cut to the wheels when exiting turn 3 which allowed for a much greater exit speed coming onto the back straight.
Combine all of the above and i'm positive I can knock a couple of seconds off my time next i hit Sandown.
That's what it's all about though, learning some skills and bettering yourself.

Nice work bro, thats a good time.
Would hate to be the guy that writes his car off, always in the back of your mind when at sandown especially when at turn six as the wall is so close.
How did the tyres go?
ANd on gear selection, I am kicking myself as I got lazy and kept using 3rd gear out of the slower turns as in the past I use second and wheel spin was easily provoked.. even though when exciting in third I wasnt in lag it would be better if I used second for a couple of the turns I believe.
Nice work bro!
