    • Heh - so your faulty DSG is giving you an advantage then! awesome! The 60ft times are just simply sensational for a Golf R... they're just not possible at a 3000rpm launch. I know that Ferret has a DSG flash so can do 4500rpm, and his 60ft times reflect that too.

so a DSG reflash gives ferret the ability for 6k launches and therefore a 12.5 time?

        • The extra 1500 rpm on the third run reduced my 60' by 0.098s but my ET was only 0.015s lower. I only did it to see what would happen and don't think I'll bother again. Ferret was saying he was having traction problems last week when launching at 4500 but I don't think it was an issue this week. I had some minor squeal off the line but nothing major.

No, as per my post, the DSG reflash gives Ferret the ability to launch at up to 4500rpm. Golf R's are usually limited to 3000rpm launches. The <1.8second 60ft time hasn't been seen before on a Golf R, even with the Stage 2+ that Ferret has. Previous 60ft times have been 2 to 2.2 sec. Last week's time by Ferret was 12.716, and that had been the fastest thus far. This week he was able to do a 12.759 as per one of zbeasty's slips.

12.581 by zbeasty with a Stage 2 car (just a DP and tune) is just awesome... it's just strange why he can launch at over 3000rpm without a DSG reflash though...

Yeah 6000rpm is probably overkill unless you've got semi-slicks, or even drag tyres, rather than the stock Dunlops at 42psi! But if you had stickier tyres and lower PSI's, you'd have to start worrying about the stock clutches, given that VW limits them to 3000rpm, and even the HPA reflash limits them to 4500rpm...

            Once again, awesome effort

Thanks Corey. They had a drag meet at WSID last weekend so there was still plenty of rubber down which helped traction hence why I didn't bother dropping the tyre pressures.

The problem is now the bug has bitten and I want to go faster. HPFP, FMIC, new tune and then maybe DSG tune. I know about the law of diminshing returns but would love to see a number starting with 11 without going big turbo.

Hey Michael...Mate we are being screwed and being starved down here for legal off street drags...Calder Park have them so rarely that its giving everyone the shets down here.
They dont even have a meet scheduled for the remainder of the year FFS!!!

The GIAC Extreme file/tune is just about to be signed off and good to go after severl months of calibration and testing, so really looking forward to see what the car will acheive with all the good APR gear, plus Stage III DSG HPA Flash (which has been in for a couple of months now)

It is amazing with your time that its achieved without the HPFP.....Sensational!

Again, congratulations.....The Ferret is going to have to pull his socks up

That sucks. Melbourne used to be the drag capital. Wasn't there a push to get a new strip built?

Lol... Melbourne was a different type of drag capital, and it was a different type of strip being built

                      • Howdy folks, Zbeasty and myself had some good runs last night although the Evo that pulled a 10 second flat and blew his oil sump and a few other things stopped the night for like over 1 hour so we could only get in 3 runs.

Hats off to zbeasty and his stealth bomber, and don't forget Mark from recode and the TXS guys, superb job.

I did get the crazy wheel spin like last week so the new strip is fairly good now.

One of my 60' time is almost identical to zbeasty, he got a 1.841, I did 1.842, but he pulled a 12.596 on that run, so you all can compare the numbers down the strip. Our cars are identical, even have 19" wheels so the weight is practically the same, apart from zbeasty having two additional baby seats in the car for additional weight lol....just to rub it in.

My runs on the night were:
                        12.884
                        12.759
                        12.717

My runs for the night are below:

                        Drag 1 and 2

                        Drag 3

                        • Jesus! Well done ZB!! Recode is the only difference, did you have a dyno done after the tune? That is very impressive... and be carefull of the stock clutches launching at that rpm mate.. yikes! Come on Fab, get on it bro dont forget heathcote, will get plenty more runs there and the surface is maintained better than calder, way better traction.

                          • The surface was terrible out at heathcote when we went for the Audi drag day although the nice slippery surface should make it a little easier for the awd boys to get off the line without bogging down

                            • Its always been a better, stickier surface with more grip than calder. If you want wheel spin goto calder.

                              • Surfaces can obviously change with the weather conditions. Some surfaces can have more grip during the day, some during the night. Different compound tyres can also react differently, and different tyres can react differently to the previous tyres rubber laid down. So you could both have been right for your given days/nights that you were at each track
