All is confirmed that opticoat and ventureshield can be applied together (Corey_R already indicated this). Just wanted it in writing as added confidence. Either invisible bra over coating or vice versa. I'm applying bra over coating since bra is supposed to be the sacraficial layer.

Had a good laugh today when I received 90k worth of lab equipment. Guess what!! It came with a warranty, in book form, took me nearly an hour to read it. Now I'm not sure if I should plug the damn thing into the powerpoint!! LMAO !!

The managing director of the importer for Opti-coat informed me that the Opti-coat can only be put on top of the Ventureshield and not the other way around. He stated that the Ventureshield may not bond correctly to the Opti-coat. So I would double check that...

It's possible you have newer, more up to date information... or it's possible the person you asked hasn't tried it yet...

I have been in contact with the pro detailer and David on the matter and they seem to be confident all will be fine. I might have the top of the rear bumper done as a test before having all the film pieces cut for the front of the car. I really want the film to be the sacrificial layer that gets replaced if needed. If it has coating on it as well then this becomes a two step replacement. Being time poor thought this would be a pain. I guess someone has to be the pioneer. It will either work in the combination I'm choosing or it won't but at least I can share my learnings, good or bad. Apparently it has been done in the USA.

I have started to make formal contact with both companies that apply opticoat and ventureshield. I have received prices for both but the question of 'can both be applied' is still to be confirmed. The company that applies opticoat is going to contact the U.S guru on the matter. As soon as I know more I will update here even if for only interest sake.
I have been invited to the workshop where opticoat is applied which should be interesting. Alot of exotic cars go through their workshop. He also supplied me with many links to a 'detailers forum' of his work that he has done. Have seen pics of a white R36 before and after shots of having opticoat applied and I never thought a white car could look so good.

Anyway I will update soon I hope.

I'm not sure what you've been quoted but mine was well over the $1000 mark. I recall from another thread that in Sydney a grand will get you ventureshield [B][U]plus[B][U] opti-coat. A lack of competition in Melbourne has me contemplating a drive (the long way of course) up to Sydney when I get my new wheels.

He also did not seem to have much of an idea at all about the yearly warranty detailing. He said he would look into it so maybe he had a better idea when you called.

Could someone outside of Melbourne enlighten me on what I should be paying for an opti-coat treatment?

Hi there Alexkid, there is only one authorised opti-coat dealer in melbourne, so I'm not sure if there are other detailers in melbourne that use the product. Did you contact Mario at Eurogloss Prestige?

Opti-coat is easily over $1000 mark. Ventureshield for what I have arranged is also easily over $1000 mark. To have both for around $1000 seems very cheap but hey maybe it's true. For the opti-coat they will have my car for 2 days and if this is typical of all detailers you may need to stay in Sydney if you go up there to have it done.

As far as the yearly checkup detail for warranty reasons, yes he told me about it. Warranty reasons aside, I want to take it back once a year so it makes it easier for me to maintain the duco.

Indeed, I did speak to Mario. I was quite impressed by the amount of time he spent on the phone with me running through the process in detail and showing me various jobs he has done with opti-coat through the detailers website. He is definitely passionate about his work.

However, my curiosity got the better of me and I had a dig around some of the websites of the Sydney approved dealers. These guys are all advertising opti-coat for a small-medium car for around the $400 mark and some even include things like interior treatments. The Melbourne quote is nearly four times more expensive!! Am I missing something here??

Can't wait to pick up the new wheels. I will call my dealer for an update as soon as this lot of public holidays is over. I hope Patrick's didn't shut for 5 days.

Your's must be close too. i'll be interested to see how you go with the ventureshield opti-coat combo.

Well... the Sydney guys for around $400 mark are definitely not a 2 day install... and they also don't include the warranty for that much (it's extra). So there is a difference in the time and detail taken... as well as a single layer vs two layer and warranty.

Yeh Alexkid, on paper mine is getting closer but until it goes into production it's all estimates only. Yours is due early May, my build date is early May. Wanna swap ?? The film/coating will be interesting. Everyday I change my mind about which to apply first. I thought I was sure but problem is I still have a bit of a wait for my car and i keep thinking about it. Over thinking it probably!!

Mario did tell me there maybe some paint correction required. He would be surprised if the paint is going to be perfect. He is very passionate about getting the paint in the best possible nick before coating. I guess if the job is done right then the price will be right. Remember any paint correction work done is an additional cost at $75 an hour. Mind you he checks over the car and will walk through it with you prior to any work starting. This way you make the call as to whether to go ahead with the work.

As per Corey_R, I thought Sydney price was low but couldn't explain why. So the reasons for a cheaper quote makes sense from what he said.

Brad, quantity over quality can be a big negative so is a pity if that is going on in Sydney. Let's face it it's a cancer in all industries in all states these days.

I've just taken delivery of my new car last week n wanted to get the paint protection done on it soon. The car is deep black pearl in colour n has been wet/dry for a week now due to rainy days in Sydney. I've read a bit about opticoat stuff n looks like it's a coating that goes on top of the original paintwork which is cleaned/prepared by detailer. So what we do after that paint protection is normal washing with neutral washing shampoo n waxing? N 6 monthly claying if required? Does opticoat last as long as 3-4 years? it sounds all complicated to me but for now I'd like to get the paint protection done ASAP. I've googled n read a bit about glassplexin n it sounds good on paper. So what would be the best paint protection for me? I'm also wondering about the price difference of opticoat in Sydney n Melbourne.. My main concerns are like bird droppings, contaminants etc n duration of shine on the car. Thanks for taking time to reply.

Yes opticoat is essentially adding another top coat to your car. You still need to look after the surface as you would if you don't get any protection. It's not a magical shield that can be negelected you still have to look after it. Bird droppings should be cleaned off as soon as possible etc. If you look back through the comments here, some of your questions will be answered. Your car being new can have lifetime warranty providing you have a yearly checkup and detail. As for the best paint protection for you I can't commment except to let you know my choice of protection as mentioned earlier in this thread. There is also a theory of way Melb/Syd prices are so different also mentioned earlier.

Thanks for the reply. So opticoat could also have swirl marks if not dried properly? What kind of paint protection is it that is usually offered by the dealer?

For up to $1K more like snake oil.
No dealer offered paint protection will last more then 12 months in normal driving conditions, if it did than it would be an OEM option along the same lines as the metallic paint mark ups.
