Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I have enabled Traffic Sign Recognition, using the instructions from the Briskoda thread, but it wouldn't work, the maxidot was showing "no data available for the area.
I managed to get it to work by changing the adaptation of "Road sign detection fusion mode" in A5 to Road Sign Detection.
I'm still not sure why it wasn't working before? is the Australian navigation data not compatible with TSR?
Anyone else had the same issue?
I'm going to keep it on for a while to see if it is useful or not.
EDIT: reading more about fusion mode, it seems this is a known issue in Australia, TSR in fusion mode is not allowed here.

Yes, I get that message as well... The camera also picks up the school zone 40 all the time as well... I guess aussie road sign definitions are not loaded into the camera module... I heard the Volvo XC90 and the new XC60 have TSR working in Australia properly...

I asked on briskoda, says looks like a area problem which explains it.

So I had a go today, making some VCDS changes...

            - DRL Whiskers = no luck, despite coding as per the instructions.
            - I changed the DRL to dim when side/park lights are on. previously they remained on full brightness.
            - I enabled DRLs with Rear Lights. This also turns on number plate lights, and instrument lights.
            - changed CH/LH to use fog lights instead of low beams
            - found the proper adaptation names and got HBA working - did a test drive and it works well

You won't get the whiskers working in Australia because none have the right lights with LEDs in the whiskers.

They do have Lighting strips in the "whiskers". Most likely not wired up.
Shine a torch into the headlamp and u'll c that they're indeed lighting strips.

It appears AUS models get the "A" version (3V2.941.015.A)
The version with whiskers that actually turn on is the "B" version (3V2.941.015.B).

Tis a shame the AUS market doesn't get the version which can have the whiskers turned on.

Dont know part numbers but my resesrch when I was buying told me that only models with smart light assist had the light up lashes and that was not an option in Australia.

That's correct... I was looking to see if I can buy headlights with smart light assist from the UK and I could find any.

I wonder if enabling smart light assist is a matter of just replacing the headlights (without the ballast and xenon lamps) with a bit of coding...

                        In theory yes.
Get the B version (masking capable, hence smart light assist), some coding and u'll b a happy chappy, with glowing whiskers.
But at approx 350 Euro a piece - I'm just to be a chap 😊
