Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 162 loud fan noise cold engine

    Hi guys

Owned my 2017 162 Superb for 2 years and I've never had this issue. Started it up tonight to move it into the driveway and a loud fan noise fired up from directly behind the lower front grille. Moved the car turned it off and the fan powered down after a couple of seconds. Started the engine again and the fan kicked in immediately. Engine temp showing cold. Climate system off. Outside temp around 15 degrees celsius. Car hadn't been driven for 3 or 4 hours prior. Any thoughts as to what's going on?
