Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Octavia RS intermittent bad idle Help

    Hi

my 2009 rs has just started having bad idle, has conked out once, not good.
the warning light comes and stays on, but then turns off, everything seams good.

then it starts the jumpy idle again. error code p2015 (likely intake manifold) the big issue is it comes and goes
doesn't matter if the engine is hot or cold.

ive only had one opportunity to look nuder the bonnet once when it was doing it. i could be wrong but i thing there was a sucking sound (vacuum leak). i might be wrong . i'll have to try listen again if/when it starts again.

I'm not too keen on taking it to Skoda as they charge $180.00 per hour, and if not playing up at the time they have it, diagnosis will be cash down the drain.

i've seen plenty threads but none seam to come and go like mine.. any thought >>>????

That's what I would have said also but the fact it's intermittent and doesn't matter if it's hot or cold is not pointing to carbon on the intake manifold IMO. You could take it to these guys as they diagnosed my wife's 2009 Tiggy problem spot on (carbon intake manifold build up).

Answer! The intake manifold has failed. The control runner pops out, if I keep it under about 3000rpm it doesn't seem to pop. I've done a crude fix to keep it from popping whilst not inhibiting full functionality. It will do just fine until I can get the manifold replaced.
Although seeing is works so well, in in no rush.
        Merry xmas

I've got a MY11 TSI - had the intake manifold replaced 2 weeks ago.
          Same error code - p2015.
Although my idle was not rough nor did it clonk out.

Finally installed the new intake manifold ( latest revision of the manifold part number ending with BH)
                  Now that's 10hours I'll never get back
Due to the coolant pipes, the 10m triple square bolt was the most challenging part of the replacement.
                  All good now.
