Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Should I have a logbook MY15 Octavia RS

I noticed that my 2014 MY15 Octavia RS did not come with a stamp logbook but instead came with a little folder book looking like you put in receipts. I took it in for its 15k service to VW dealer and they had taken the leather pouch out but left nothing in it, I'm assuming they looked for somewhere to stamp it, I assumed VW would also be the same?

Should I have a logbook with stamp section for MY15?

It's all electronic now. You can ask for the printout/receipt/repair order if you want... Whether they give you the latter is another question.

pretty ridiculous, I reckon it encourages/forces people to take up dealer servicing so there is some central record, rather than having to keep a folder of receipts. No reason why they couldn't have included a few pages for stamps. I think I'll keep a folder of receipts, I'm done with dealer servicing (thanks VW Osborne Park)

I need them for my work car, so neither here nor there really as they have to give them to me. In the early days they used to give me another list that was more extensive and what Skoda make them check. They reckon it was twice as long as the Audi list. Sometimes I still get that one as well. As long as they can print off a report for when you want to sell the car it shouldn't be a big deal.

The guy who sold me that car said you can request a copy of the service record when ever, so it shouldn't be a problem. but this is indeed annoying.

Yep. I found out when i got home and then called them up to be told they had gone electronic. I ordered a paper copy and have had my car log book serviced by my mechanic who i know and trust. He even went a hundred dollars less than the dealership for the service.
