I enquired about shipping and they refuse to ship as there is a sole distributor for wheels. I found out who it was and they want $1500 + freight for a set. So a $900 AUD set of wheels turns into a $1500 set when an australian seller gets a hold of them.

And people wonder why I buy stuff from overseas......

I'll look into new rims more when the OEM tyres wear out.


And Gerry, if you put the phat rims on, no one will know you have base spec, because without techpack, they all pretty much look the same! Plus base spec is best value for $$$ and less likely to depreciate as much as a car with lots of options (like mine!). Options do **** all for resale, except make it sell quicker.

GTR did you enquire with pyspeed about those VMRs?

Theres a very easy and inexpensive work around shipping if they don't wanna play ball.

Yes, with pyspeed. They flatly refused. I gather ship it to our something like that? (Freight forwarder). I'll look into that once I've got the car. Have only just pulled finger out to get loan.... Worst part is I changed jobs 4 months ago.... So only 4 months in job. But I stayed casual at other one (hence the working 6 days a week) to hopefully make the loan app look better. It's with the bank my home loan is with (well credit union) so should be OK, as we are thousands ahead in payments on that... But you never know.

Yep freight forwarder. Pyspeed have free shipping through out the states on select rims at the moment too so you can save even more.

I'd rather not sacrifice handeling for the price of good looks, so I might stick closer to the offset and with 18" x8 ET45 for the front and back, or should I try and get away with more?

Does anyone know if the Mk2 RS has adjustable rears for wheel alignments. I assume it does but the tyre guy I spoke to didn't know what a skoda octavia was!!!

rear lower control arm hs an eccentric bolt for camber. It's easy to get to.

There's a banana shaped upper arm that has an eccentric bolt for toe. It requires a bit more perserverance to reach if you're a bit short in the arms.

Tell him it's the same as a Golf mkV / MkVI. If he still looks at you confused then don't let him near it.

There are some good aligners up in BNE. I've posted about them before. I've got to dash off or I'd find the names for you.

Thanks Brad. I knew you'd be the man to respond. I usually take my cars to bob jane keperra and they've been good in the past to me. And yes I've told them before it's the same as a golf and then they usually go "oh OK".

He wasn't overly keen to put my own supplied new tyres and rims on. But as a repeat customer I talked him down to $25 per corner.

Wow, really? Most car forums fulcrum have a great rep. I've really with moorooka before (aaaages ago) and they were very professional. Not cheap, but did a good job.
