Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

What did you do to your Octavia today?

My 2.0TSI only has two o2 sensors. I thought it was only America where some 2.0TSI's had the 3rd sensor? (On the turbo exhaust housing)

      3?

      I feel so ripped-off.

I've only got 1. It's on the top of the DP half way between the #1 cat & the #2 cat

I think its something to do with their pollution laws/emission testing in places like California.

Got the Opticoat applied. Time will tell if it was worth it.

            It certainly looks stunning

I have a ceramic coating on one car and AutoGlym Hardwax on the other - for comparison
So far, the Hardwax is giving very similar results, give it more time

Not mine yet but test drove two 2013 VRS wagons to decide on petrol or diesel... Petrol it is, now just to find the right car.

Didn't do it today but it's been exactly a week.... got a thicker (OEM Golf GTI MkV) rear sway bar installed, and I'm very very happy!

So the VRS only comes with the front door sills and the rear has none right? Could you post a picture of the front door sill for comparison. Thanks.

                            What model do you have?

Did you do the "adjustable hole" mod. It stiffens it up a fraction more.

On the wekend I got bored with Bathurst & hardwired in my dashcam & GPS.

Fitted one of these into the compartment on the RHS of the steering wheel

cut off the cigarette lighter attachment & added a 2 amp inline fuse & connected it into a switched spare fuse socket (#41 FWIW) using a 7.5 amp fuse as a connector (you could use an add-a-fuse if you want).

I ran the dashcam wire across the top of the windscreen & removed the A-pillar moulding & ran the wire inside that.

Works really well & as the standard 12v outlet on my car is on 24/7 (it used to be on a 30 minute timer which i assume has failed & defaulted to permanently on) it's one less thing I have to worry about unplugging.
