Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    • with the mk2, the vw golf paddle shiffters/extensions do not fit as they are a different design to the mk5/mk6 golfs.
octavia mk2 uses the audi paddle shiffter design.

No it works in a range of VAG cars and I think even other makes IIRC - just google it and you will see. The forum golfmk7 has good posts about it and obdeleven has a pro boards which has info. For the casual user it seems like a better alternative to VCDS considering the price differential, downsides is not as powerful at this stage and not as tested but over time it will be interesting to see how this product develops.

Nope. This is from their site:

          SUPPORTED MODELS

OBDeleven can be used with any AUDI, VOLKSWAGEN, SEAT or ŠKODA model. Some models until 1996 years need VAG 2X2 adapter.

            • Collected mine today. MY16 Ambition Plus 110TSI DSG Estate in metal grey - Smartlink, 18" Alaris Wheels' Auto tailgate, Smartlink, mudflaps, roof racks and rubber mats.

Replacing my 2014 XV which has been less than a pleasant experience.

Whilst I was doing the delivery for my car today, mum and dad were also wandering through the dealership. Mum's 2014 Forester 2.5i-S has also not been a great experience, particularly in comparison to numerous prior Subarus.

So next Saturday they collect an Octavia Scout 132TSI Premium in denim blue, with panoramic roof, Tech Pack, and electric front seats.

You guys have really embraced the brand. Hope it is good to you.

Obviously the XV didn't appreciate your defence of the choice at the time. Hope you haven't taken too much of a bath.

Thanks Brad - if I look back to the Superb 3/4 of the issues with it could have been fixed by it not being a lease car - namely, new battery after the first flat, 4 new tyres, and the big 60,000km service would have hopefully fixed the DSG. But in this iteration of DSG, the low speed clumsiness is greatly diminished, and can even deal with our driveway. Couple that with the fact the Octy blows the XV out of the water for driving experience, the choice was easy for me. That and my 6 foot plus frame can fit in the Octy, and annual servicing (which also took some sting out of the changeover - $1k in servicing on a 6000km car this year), what's not to like!

I think once I did the deal and they looked at the Scout, again, it was an easy choice.

It actually made the paddle feel less like a button and more like an actual paddle.

Quality is good, solid aluminium but finishing was quite rough, so I re-sanded the surface and re-profile the edge to a more rounded profile.

                      • Took mine in to get audio installed, and suspect I may get the car back vinyl wrapped in places as well: I have an awesome trimmer- tends to work out what I want and just go with it... Tomorrow will tell, as I have to collect the car and proceed immediately to get the tyres fitted.
