I have experienced this a couple of times now - when the car is going up a steep ascent in 1st gear and comes to a complete stand still (by applying the brakes) and if I try to accelerate the brakes seem to stay locked. No matter what I do it doesn't want to move forward. Has anyone else had a similar experience with a MT.
Wonder why this is happening and how to get out of this sticky situation. Would turning off traction control help?Last edited by vEnOm_oz; 01-08-2015, 05:21 PM.Walking Contradiction...

Possibly, I understand HHA kicking in but it should release when you apply throttle and this works perfectly on a normal incline. But inclines that are really steep it just stays stuck. When you apply the throttle it doesn't release the brakes and the end result is that the ignition switches off.Walking Contradiction...

Matty, it's not your usual roads. I had this while driving into properties which are up a 'hill' with narrow drive ways and on a higher gradient than normal (probably 45-50 degree inclines, if not more). The climb is fine but for whatever reason if I stop midway and put it in 1st and push the throttle the brakes stay engaged and I couldn't disengage them; the engine shuts down eventually. I'm trying to decode what it means, would be interesting to know the reason.Last edited by vEnOm_oz; 03-08-2015, 02:14 PM.Walking Contradiction...

Does it do it if you use handbrake start ?Mine: Octavia vRS Combi (MY15) | Brilliant Silver | 6MT | 162Kw 350Nm | Tech Pack* | 18" Black Pack | Leather | Sky Port | Ordered Aug 14 | Built Wk 48 2014 | Landed 3/2/2015 | Delivered 20/2/2015

This is a bit of an odd one, but I have an old ipod that I wanted to reuse as my media store in the octavia (with colombus).
Now I don't use itunes for music, I use spotify instead. The octavia can start playing music from spotify (synced to device) ok but then after a couple songs it goes haywire and tries to play music from the ipod from itunes.
Anyone else had this issue?Vehicle: Octavia RS162 Steel Gray Wagon, Tow Bar, 18" Black Pack & Tech Pack
Order placed: 31/03/15, Orignal Delivery: 18/09/15, Current ETA - Dock Port Kembla 17/07/15

had my VRS for over a week now and each time I drive it it amazes me more.
I have a VRS TDI wagon with Tech pack, 18"Black pack, Pano Roof, Auto Tail gate and Comfort Pack.
thing I have done so far, added protective stip to top of rear bumper, Cargo Barrier
VCDS adaptation; Copy direct from CD into Jukebox, Lap timer on Maxidot, enabled auto tailgate close from Keyfob, Aircon Fan speed Indication when in Auto. (more to investigate)
I have an ODBII bluetooth adaptor which i have connected to an old Android Phone for real time monitoring of EGT, manifold temperature and Boost Pressure.
Love the interior of the car, but when the curtain on the roof is closed it seems very dark so I leave it open to let the light in, probably will change this when summer comes along.
the auto stop start is a bit annoying but found that aside from pressing the button to turn it off it is easy to manage, roll up to a stop and hold a gentle pressure on the brakes, once stopped harder brake pressure switches the engine off. to get around the hesitation (not that there is much) slowly ease the pressure on the brake and the engine re-starts then by the time the lights change/gap in traffic your ready to go.
Love the mid range torque of the diesel, can see the boost pressure really start to increase at around 1500rpm (normal driving around 8psi and rising). so easy to get the traction control working when accelerating from a corner.
Have noticed the car doing a DPF clean when on the highway, consumption jumps to between 5.6-6.0 l/100km and exhaust temp sits around 680deg C for about 25km @110km/hr.
Handling is superb, on rough roads the car does let you feel all the bumps, cornering is great, first few spirited corners were odd as it felt as though the car was going to have a lot of body roll but cornered with ease, and is so easy to break traction out of a second gear corner.( traction control kicks in and takes care of it).
