Bit of a heads up for anyone with the 7 speed DSG. Had a squeaking/squealing noise when taking off in first and when changing from 1st to 2nd. Needed the clutch spindle bearing replaced, got a new clutch and bearing under warranty. Apparently there is a technical bulletin for this issue on the Golf

After the first-of-the-season Christmas meal out we cruised back home across town and got a few more green lights than normal.
18 kilometres averaging 46 kph (mostly 60 kph zones), the consumption was 4.2 l/100.
We were doing better than that but had to pick up our dog from the retirement village. I thought that was a reasonable effort for a petrol wagon.
My best cross town trip in the old 1.9d was 13km with fewer lights and no diversion to the retirement village and got 3.5 l/100 .

Good to hear it's getting even better.

I can't wait, just over a week now (excluding any more unforseen circumstances)

I have a squeaking noise when I've started my car, put in in D and slowly drive out the garage coming from the rear left(?) wheel.. I apply the brake and it stops... Continue to drive a slow speed and it still makes the noise but when I pick up speed it goes away... Anyone else experience this?

I read that on briskoda this morning. Your brake pads need grease on the backing plate its the return/locating spring making the noise. Skoda the tight asses don't put any there.

Edit: apparently a test is pump your brakes firmly a few times, of the take goes away, that's what it is.

I have this as well but only when turning left. Completely gone after picking up speed. Doesn't happen all the time though, probably 30% of the time and always after cold start when it happen.

Pump brakes before driving and engine off or in N or P with engine on and pump brakes?

I have slight whine when I turn on the aircon. I think I notice it because the engine is dead quiet at idle. Not noticeable when radio is on.

Yeah I know, just saying we all do it.
Bloody hell, I have to wait a few days now to finalise loan, because they won't finalise without an invoice, but I can't get an invoice until the car is delivered to the dealer.

I think this last two week wait is the worst part....

The clutch squeal only happens during gear changes and used to happen on mine when it got hot. Because there is a TP for the Golf MK7 it must be happening a bit.

Quick question for RS owners - are you filling with 95 or 98 RON?

I saw a thread on Briskoda and there doesn't seem to be a consensus, although the manual seems to suggest that 98 could be beneficial. I was quite surprised to see the min. RON was 95 on the label, not 98 like a previous TSI I'd driven.
