My MY10 RS still looked brand new after 4.5 years. Garaged, washed every week and waxed every 4 months. You should spend less time on the "net" and more time caring for your car ,and be $1k better off.

There is nothing else that compares on the planet. They use the exactly the same formula when coating private and commercial jets as they do their cars and boats. There is a reason Virgin and Qantas spend tens of millions of dollars each year to protect their paint jobs with this stuff

I have 2 kids and live in a unit complex, so car washing is a PITA (even though I like it). I am time and facility poor, so they are some of the reasons im getting my car opticoated.

$400 for paint correction and Opticoat here - car and wheels. I still two bucket wash on a regular basis but love the fact there is a permanent water bead, a protective layer on the paint to protect from minor brushes or bird crap and no need to invest time and money in waxing every few months.

Given the value of my time at work, with family or enjoying a read on here it pays for itself in in a very short space of time.

Easy win to Opticoat over here.

                      What does paint correction involve?

Check out the case studies in the Car Care Products sponsor section - they're applying Nanolex usually after but the correction side is the same thing.

Opticoat is expensive, but, if it is applied by an approved detailer you'll be covered by a warranty if you have any problems with it. Keep in mind though, Opticoat is not a set and forget sealant, it does need maintenance, proper washing, to maintain it's hydrophilic properties. It also requires an (at minimum) annual visit to the detailer for decontamination. Saying that, you could go with something like CQuatrz that will last roughly 18months, but won't stand up as well to the extremely harsh chemicals used at touchless washes.

Lastly, dealer applied paint protection is usually an overpriced fairly ordinary product that's usually applied to a poorly prepared car.

Did this 4.5 years involve regular decontamination and machine polish. No matter how careful you are washing, some marring will occur.

Washed every week is impossible in Melbourne where it can rain multiple weekends in a row. Even if it's not, there is no point washing if rain is likely in a day or so unless the car is really filthy. I used to have all the time in the world but two cars, a house, a busy job and young kids means I'm not wasting time keeping a car clean when I can be spending my time with something more important. I look after my cars but after selling 3 immaculate cars with low kms for still not much you realise time can be better spent elsewhere.

Pressure washer + foam lance solves all. If you have a synthetic sealant on the car, its practically all you need!
