  • Octavia II VRS TDI remap options

Just wondering if anyone in Sydney with an Octavia ii vrs tdi has had a remap/tune done locally that they can recommend.

I rang around a couple of places last week and was quoted ~ $1,500, which is outside my budget.

Tried one of the boxes from a brit place? i.e. have you had a look on briskoda?

Locally I guess APR would be the ones to go to or GIAC. The golf thread may turn up more tuners

Revotechnic tune from vwvillage. $1k as it's a bench tune, ecu is encrypted.
Apr and giac don't do tdi tunes.

As I posted on the tuning thread.
I have the DTUK tuning box fitted, Goes from 125KW to 165KW and 350NM to 470NM very impressed. Dyno graph on DTUK's site to prove. Uses less fuel most of the time

I think I d want a independent dyno run to confirm those figures and a sniffer up the tail to actually see how its running.

Have you tried Port Hacking Automotive, local Bluefin dealer. They can remove and open and reprogram your ECU.

What part of Sydney are you?

What tunes have you looked at?

Have you checked the tuning & diesel sub-forums?

I've got a Revo stage 2, which is pretty well the same as stage 1 with a tad extra pull and no having to worry about filling up the DPF.
Before anyone starts at me for that, I do a stupid amount of k's so the DPF would need to be replaced sooner rather than later.

If you wanna meet up some time and check it out I'd be happy to.

I went to VW Village for the stage 1.
Total was $750 because my car blew up their ECU unlocker and I had to come back some time later when they got a new one, inconveniences etc - and also the Revo winter sale (Winter in the UK, but Revo Aus honoured it )
Stage 2 from Peak Performance cost $100 (Everywhere else wanted $50 but wouldn't do DPF delete remap, which is the *only* stage 2 remap for the 125TDI so kind of a moot point) and the actual removal of the DPF (cut pipe open, take filter out, replace pipe) cost a case of beer and a terrible afternoon with the car in pieces.

APR and GIAC don't do diesel tunes.
Nobody really does, and out of those that do you can't use most of them because of the ECU encryption.
Is it a manual, or a DSG?
The DSG box is only rated to 350Nm which is the output of the engine already, but Kamold hasn't reported having any issues. The manual however is rated to a wonderful 550Nm

Probably the best place to get info on TDi remaps is briskoda

I'm in the inner-west - I think the tune I was quoted on was an oettinger one.

Haven't delved into the tuning and diesel forums yet - thanks will have a look.

This is very interesting - I wasn't aware of the 350Nm rating. Mine is (6-Speed) DSG, so if that's their max rating then I probably wouldn't risk a tune based on one persons report of no issues.

I'd better not take you up on the offer of checking it out, as I may find I like the manual too much!

Yeah the reason the others wouldn't delete the DPF is it violates several things in Australia and they could get their ass handed to them.

I don't think I'm the only person in the world with a tdi stage 1 tune
Check the briskoda forums for some more reports.

Also the stock torque output is 350nm so I find it hard to believe that the DSG box is engineered to only handle 350.

Some tuners have run some insane torque outputs through the box.

The DSG will handle more than 350nm. You need a DSG tune to get that though. They don't just blow up at 351nm.
