Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

Ordered 07 May 14 (Wk 15), Built Wk 37, Loaded 27/9 (wk 39), Docked 12/11 (wk 46), DELIVERED! 12/12 (end of wk 50 - 7 months + 1 week).

So for those who have the Ambition Plus Wagon + DSG, how do you find the car on highway (eg, 110km/h on the Calder in VIC)? Noise, stability, any issue with the car so far, especially people who has driven over 50,000 km?
And quality of service of the car, how's the dealer that you use?

The MK2 is a great highway tourer. You can drive from dawn to dusk & a bit more & step out of the car feeling great. I can't see the Mk3 being a step backwards.carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic

Thanks for the suggestion, but how does the road quality compare to that of Australia? I do drive on the Calder a fair bit and my current Mazda 3 MPS gets quite tiring due to the 18" wheels and sport suspension...

Go and drive one & decide for yourself as ride quality is a personal thing.
I have a 2007 Mk2 1.8tsi manual Elegance sedan. In stock form, a mate of mine who is very fussy about suspension tune (He's had an Elise & an Evora) said that the stock Octavia Elegance would be an ideal vehicle for a 'round Australia & up the middle trip (which he did in a Gen4 Liberty with Bilsteins).
I now run 17"s instead of 16"s, have fitted Koni Yellows when the OEM dampers got too sloppy at 105,000km & have Eibach springs designed for a vRS diesel wagon (much stiffer on the rear). I've had it on a few dirt roads lately & it rides beautifully (I was expecting to lose a few fillings) - better than my wife's Captiva7 on the same roads.
Just go and drive one. If your dealer is serious they'll let you do an extended test drive.carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic

I had a classic Mazda 6 and used to drive a first gen MPS 3. Both cars were really harsh compared to our Mk2 RS which is sitting on less rubber as well. I think you will find it much nicer. Mazda seem to prefer thump and bump to gain sportiness. I drive on some pretty crappy roads and seeing as you are near me I'm guessing the tram tracks around the place are fun.
