The car is pre FL and manual.
Can anyone please tell me how I can determine which insert I require for my 2012 vRS Octavia Wagon TSI Manual?

      Hi Don,

Try the SPF3365-80k I think I wrote the p/n down wrong in my previous posts.
Don't go and order it without getting under and having a look. You don't need to pull anything off just park the car up on a gutter and crawl under. The dogbone bush is directly behind the windage/engine tray at the back.

The 80k is the durometer rating and I reckon its ok. The fact that I can get the power to the ground better now far outweighs the engine vibrations that I get.

        Cheers VJ.

And so it helped with reducing/eliminating axle tramping/wheel hoping too?

Also, any reason why you can't go with the 70k durometer one? I know it says for diesels only, but if you wanted to reduce vibrations further but still get some benefit/s over the OEM dogbone, couldn't you use the 70k one on a TSI anyway?

Yes helped with axle tramp big time, I would recommend anyone to do this mod. Really easy to do as well, once the car is in the air you can do it in about 10 minutes.

Instead of getting axle tramp the car sort of bogs down more. On a TSI and TFSI I wouldnt go anything less than the 80k.
70k means that it is softer for a diesel. I guess if you wanted to hang onto the factory refinement of a smooth idle then go with the 70k.

Ive got a brand new dog bone mount from USP for a pre FL car (pre 2009) if you want one cheap.

My mate bought it for his 2007 GTI about 2 months ago but he is now selling the car. We never fitted it so its still in its packaging.

Yup I guess easiest way to explain it is normally my car would bounce from one wheel to the other (axle tramp) when I gave it a boot full. This would be particularly bad in first and second in the dry and up to 3rd in the wet. Now if the wheels slip both of them let go bit normally the power gets to the ground via both wheels so the traction goes down better. This bogs down, I havnt done a 0-100 time bit the bum dyno feels an improvement.

Sorry I'd normally associate the term bog down as bad but if I read what your saying correctly you're using it in a complimentary way, yeah?

Yeah normally I would associate it with getting no where but with the insert it feels like the power gets to the ground more evenly.
If you are a bit of a driving enthusiast then you will notice the difference, if not then all you will notice is more vibrations in neutral, first and reverse.
My next occy will get one too.

Got the 3365-70k (yes the one for the diesel) dogbone insert installed today. Have only driven once since installation and here's my initial thoughts:

So glad I didn't get the 80k, cause upon first turn of the key I was like....whoah....what was that....car shook considerably. But this was just on start up. At idle, very minor/noticeable vibrations but certainly can live with them at idle. At take off in first, some further minor vibrations, but nothing too bad.....there's actually more an annoying drone noise now....almost like I got a new exhaust or something as I take off in first. I'm assuming it's regenerated noise from the additional vibrations on take off.

Didn't get the chance to WOT in 1st gear yet to see if my axle tramping is reduced. Did get to kick some juice in going up hill in 2nd however and all I got was wheel spin!!!! So fingers crossed my axle tramping is reduced.

Will provide a further update once I've had more opportunity with WOT.

Just not sure if Mrs Donweather will appreciate that additional drone noise upon taking off in 1st.....will just mean I have to turn the radio up louder!!! Also about to drive some 1000km round trip next weekend, so that should give the dogbone insert some reasonable km's to hopefully bed down a wee bit.

                            Thanks for that Don,
Yes you will feel some extra vibration back through the chassis becasue you're basically elimination the shock absorbing charisteristics of the dog bone mount.

I found that the rubber did loosen up after a while. I do still get more vibration and noise in the cabin but for me the more positive feel of what the front wheels are doing is not that big a trade off.

A mate of mine has put group N engine mounts in his 06 turbo forester and you can really feel what the engine is doing now.

If Mrs Donweather doesnt like it it is easily removed and moved on.

How old is your car and how many Km's on the clock if it is shuddering bad you may have other problems like clogged up valves and or injectors?

Car is my12 and just done 30,000km.

2nd drive this morning. Noticeable vibration. Again something I can live with at this stage but not sure about the rest of the family. Gave it WOT this morning and did get axle tramp in 1st. Nowhere near as bad as it used to be but still there to some extent but really only on bad roads and up near 5500rpm. So at this stage I'll leave it in and see how it beds down over the coming weeks/kms. As I said I'll be doing around 1000km on a road trip next weekend.

Yep, def still got axle tramp but nowhere near as bad and as I said above, really only right at the top end of 1st gear. Can live with that I guess. Drone is much more noticeable now after a few days. Anything under about 1500 rpm and you get this low frequency vibration/drone in the cabin. Again, I can almost live it with. If it was any worse I'd say the negatives outway the positives. So for me, it's a borderline upgrade at present.
