Most of the ebay DP are catless.

Pretty easy job for any exhaust shop to weld one in though if thats the direction you want to go.

I can't see how it could fit a Jetta & a GTI unless you have to specify to the seller which vehicle you have.

Unfortunately, there probably isn't a cheap plug & play solution that has a catcon.

Cheapest ebay/aliexpress DP is AUD200 delivered. 200cell (100cell will throw an error) catcon is AUD120 delivered (ebay local supplier). You could probably fit the unit yourself at home providing you can just hack the length down to size (2-3hrs work) then drive to the exhaust shop & they can fit the catcon (1hr max) for $100-$150ish.

So if all the stars align you might get out of it for $420 for a cheap but probably low quality unit.

The alternative is something good like an SPM with cat for $770 locally.

42DD with cat from OS is about AUD 620 delivered but I believe the quality isn't great. There's a void of nothingness between those prices.

Maybe keep an eye out on the forums for something 2nd hand?

I have a 42dd on my S3 and have fitted a couple myself to mk6 and late model A3s. They aren't stainless but I wouldn't say the quality isn't great at all.

Mine is 2 years old now and looks pretty much as it did when it was fitted. I certainly expect it to last the life of the car.

I mean fitment quality - it sounds like it might be a bit variable. Was considering one myself but was put off from the number of instances I found of people saying they weren't terrific. I think if you are going to spend that type of money you may as well spend a bit more & get something that hasn't had any bad reviews.

If you say that you haven't had issues with several installs then that's worth taking on board as well.

              Brad and Gavin,
Thanks for all your comments so far, the whole reason this has come about is because I will be getting the Occy tuned in May and I guess I would love to have a DP in it to take advantage of the tune.

As Brad has said if all my stars align I can probably get out of it for $500.
I have sent a message off to that Ebay seller to question him on how you fit a Jetta and GTI with the same pipe.

I love to tinker and I guess im happy to give it a shot. I will do up a little how to if I get the time for the other Occy owners on here on my findings.

Look in the Lucas_R Mk6 GTI thread. There might be an interim solution there.

DP is for a stage2 tune. You probably need something on the suck side as well - unless it's a custom tune. Where are you going for the work? CVWC?

Thinking about going a CustomCode tune. Im hoping Gavin can use the DP to get a bit more out of the tune.

For the suck side I have already replaced the air filter. The stock air box looks like it will handle the flow that the little KO3 will need.
I may be wrong but all the reading I have done says its not really necessary.
I would love the car to look as stock as possible.

Ok I have decided I think to be the person to go forward with this.
I have a issue with the eBay person from my link a few posts up though. They can't guarantee that it will fit.

                    I quote:
here is the situation, for U.S with (Left Hand Drive) Models, according to our vendor advice, this downpipe could fit on the following car models.
if you were saying that your Australia model Jetta downpipe is different from GTI, which mean our downpipe may not fit on your car.

                    06-11 Audi A3 (2.0L/2.0T I4 DOHC)
                    06-10 Volkswagen Jetta MK5 (2.0L/2.0T I4 DOHC FWD Models)
                    06-10 Volkswagen GTI MK5 (2.0L/2.0T I4 DOHC FWD Models)
(Fits FSI and TSI CCTA Turbocharged Models ONLY; Does NOT Fit TSI CBFA Engines)

we do have experience for Australia buyer having fitment issue on other auto parts item like Catback or Header. so for this downpipe. i will suggestion specially look for other seller who have the downpipe confirm will fit on Right Hand Drive or special engine model that you need.

My question to some of the more knoledgable in the VW/Skoda community. Is the downpipe different for the Aus delivered jetta to the US delivered one or is the engine configuration the same.

Config is the same. LH/RH doesn't come into it, it's all in the length AFAIK.

                        correct.

mine came from a LHD GTi and I had it cut shorter.

Have you seen the down pipes that Empire Performance offer? They are based in Perth WA, and have the dump pipes for $189 + $55 shipping. There are a few people on another VW/Audi/Skoda forum i look at that are using these.

The dump pipes themselves are the same Chinese things that everyone else sells, but it might be worth paying a few extra dollars to buy locally just in case of any issues with shipping/faulty part etc.

I didnt see those. To be honest I would have paid a few extra dollars to keep it local. I have ordered the one from a page back and will pick up a 3" cat locally and have it fitted.

I figured that if the pipe is too long I am having it cut for the vat anyway so will deal with it then.
