Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

      Got mine today

Very happy with the car, only had 27kms on the clock when it was delivered, and is great to drive. The diesel feels a little different to the one in my old Passat - perhaps a little taller 1st/2nd gears as it feels a little less lively off the line - but the clutch engagement in the DSG is not as noticeable from a standing start either. And it's a bit quieter than the Passat was too I think (the turbo whine was quite noticeable).

Of course now it is raining and I want to take it for a drive... oh well, it'll wash off the dust it collected on it's travels over the ditch.

On first impressions (having done one trip into town and back) I like it a lot. The stereo sounds much better than the one in the Passat. The cruise control stalk is a bit more fiddly than the Passat's but I was expecting that. The seats are much nicer, and all the controls are much more responsive (not really a fair comparison with a 6 year old/125000km car though).
