I've still got the Michelin PE2s at 65k wearing beautifully, no noise, still grip and still astounding me they have a reasonable amount of tread left. Being replaced with PS3s for sure, but wish the PS3s came stock on the new RS.

I have done a fair bit of research on the topic of tyres because I am upgrading from 18's to 19's. The true successor to the PS2 is the Pilot Super Sport. The PS3 is one rung below the PSS but still a good tyre

Woofy is talking about PE2 (Pilot Exalto). They were worth an arm & a leg from the tyre shops - a big surprise when the RS was coming standard with them. I don't believe they are available anymore.

I reckon the PSS is half a notch above the PS2 & the PS3 a fraction below the PS2 but I'd be happy with any of them on my car

Re read Woofy's quote and you are right, and indeed the PS3 is the direct replacement to the Pilot Exalto. As you say they are all high quality tyres and certainly much better than most tyres offered as std equipment. I am going with the PSS for a bit more traction and hoping to limit the axle tramp.

Yeah they were discontinued not long after we got our car. Most 2007/2008 cars came with them, the MY09s came with a mix of things, none of them as good. The offficial replacement is the PS3 which we got for a reasonable price for our 6, but the RS was double due to the weird size. The PE2s were available still from tirerack for a while but still around $400-500 each. If they existed still I would pay that, they were worth every cent. We will be selling our RS late this year so if we need to replace will just go PS3.

Similar spec to my order last week - I went manual and moon white however. Have now been told delivery expected between 6-8 months but expect they are under promising. My order has been placed with caveat of delivery to me by end of August. I hope it turns up in time otherwise I may have to simply convince the wife that an R would need to be a substitute!

New Octavia ....when? How Much?

I ordered in Nov and mine is (supposedly) being built mid March... I was told there are a lot in the queue and that there is also a shortage of the wheels for the 19" black pack (not affecting my order as I went with the 1.
I hope things have changed and yours genuinely does get built in April but based on my wait and what I've been told I wouldn't get your hopes up.
Having said that I was told they are changing the shipping arrangements so hopefully once built they should get here quicker.

A bit late in the piece for me to be asking this as my car is en route to Melbourne. ...but can someone explain what auto tailgate is? I know its the 4 button option, but how useful is it?
For me I would find auto opening rear passenger doors more useful

Electric tailgate open and close. You press a button and the tailgate opens, then you press a button and it closes. You can open from inside the cabin but not close (A safety feature I think). There is a button on the remote but I haven't used it, tend to use the tailgate open button in the usual open location, then press the button to close which is under the tailgate lip.
Theres probably a better explanation and maybe a video if you do a google search.

No probs.
Not sure an auto opening door would be all that useful in traffic Nor for that matter is an auto opening tailgate !

Congrats VRS162 & DaMama ... You'll love the car. Had mine almost a month (Elegance Wagon with chrome & tech pack) & it's a great experience. Waiting to pick mine up from the dealer was excruciating .... Just wanted to get behind the wheel!
