How does it attach to the car? Is it just with 3M double sided tape?

I'm sure you guys are aware, but imported car seats are illegal in Australia no matter how badly we get ripped here. They are unlikely to bring in top tether outside of here, is has the toughest standards in the world which is why the top tether remained. Existing seats have been argued to be better than isofix Euros if properly installed. "If" being the key word. Even the same models brought in here eg maxi cosi are modified to meet our stricter rules.

We are about to get the local seats start going up past 10, I waited for isofix but it's been a dud wait. Only to 4 isn't very long for the STD. Probably better things to spend money on if you don't pull seats out often.

The problem is, over 90% of car seats are NOT properly installed. The seatbelt retainer is a poor system (even expensive seats are flimsy compared to ISOFIX). Top tether does Slightly improve the crash worthiness, hence the addition to Euro safety standards (we will see more come out soon as it hasnt been in the standards very long).

I would take a decent euro ISOFIX seat over pretty much anything on the australian market right now. It means you can quickly and easily remove a seat (cleaning the car this helps a lot) and refit it in a very short space of time, and know that it will be fitted 100% correctly every time. Can you get a fine? Sure! Just like darker than legal tint and pretty much most of the modifications we make to our cars. In this case (and based on the large number of incorrectly fitted seats) odds are ISOFIX will improve safety, even without top tether. It will certianly improve usability of the seats due to ease they can be removed/refitted.

But in anycase, its up to the individual if they want to take the "risk". For me, whats the point in buying one of the safest cars in the market, if you're not going to go the whole hog and get the safest seats also?

On a side not, I have emailed rear guards, so hopefully they send an email through and I can buy that too.

I'm past car seats now but I had an install lesson from the local installer then did it well every time in under 3 minutes. No big deal.

And thankfully I never had to test the efficacy of the seat or my installation technique in a crash.

Totally know imported car seats are illegal, but I have found isofix to be solid as a rock and my 3 yo is in a specifically designed rearward facing seat. Im with GTR, the seat belt retainer system is crap.
I guess we could go on.....
As with everything, as long as one is aware of the risks/does their research.

Hmmm, that seems serious, by all reports this should be a very good car, I hope they get enough stock because at the price points they are guestimating this is a lot of car for the money.

Don't bother with the glove box LED. If the Mk 3 is anything like the Mk 2 glove box, replacing the bulb is a right PITA!!!
