Wow that's an impressive price. I paid $42k for a 2012 (MkII) manual RS wagon with leather and sunroof and I thought I got a good deal.

I found my invoice doing my car allowances recently. Early Nov 2008 I paid $36k for a man raceblue RS Hatch with sunroof and front sensors. Ended up getting another $1k thrown in by VWA as well to seal the deal and was given a tradein that matched private sales prices. How times have changed but it was just after the GFC when car stocks were piling up at the docks for all makes.

We will be wanting a sunroof again for sure, definitely the tech pack and most likely black pack. Again another manual. My wife is toyign with the idea of a wagon this time though. I think the hatches definitely go for less.

Maybe due to wait times the dealers are prepared to virtually give the cars away rather than have you go buy a different brand.

There not, finding it difficult to get under 45k from any dealer except one and I've tried 7 so far. They won't even price match 45k.

We test drove an MY14 RS DSG Swagon last Wednesday, there good very good but the dealer would not even consider less than $45k MLP qouted straight from the Skoda Brochure.
The search continues.....

Hey pologteye, the quote I got was for the hatch sedan with dsg with those extras, I've tried interstate also when I was in queensland, and melbourne happens to do the best deals so far. I told them if they beat 45k I'd sign, otherwise I'd take the bmw 328i second hand I was looking at. I was referred by a member to deal with a salesman that is just straight up, easy to talk to, no messing around. Because this member also purchased from him, he looked after me, all I asked was if he could beat 45k, called me back with 43250 with all that I requested, or minus 1k for the leather if I didn't want it. So I went today to brighton bmw to try the 2012 328i advertised at 60k, turns out it sold for 52k, damn it. So I still need to try one before I commit. I did test drive a 325 today, not what I'm after but boy do bmw know how to make cars. Also swung past brighton skoda and asked for his best deal with my options, said he can not even beat 45k. So I suggest you give peninsula skoda a call and speak with John. I'm sure he will do his best to look after you.

Who did you lock your final deal with Stiv?

Gotta try the 328i still, then I will know, best part about bmw...they said you can't tell with a quick drive, take it for a long drive on your own so you can really tell, with the 325, they do that with every car I purchase from them. To be fare though, John from skoda peninsula also said to come and try and get a feel for the new octavia rs with the sprts button as it's completely different. Such a difference when you deal with real people.

Dropped into a Skoda dealership today to get some info on the vRS. This car was probably at the top of my list but when quoted Dec delivery for a Wagon or July+ for Sedan (Im after a sedan), all I could do was laugh and leave. Very disappointing that a brand trying to build itself here would put potential customers through such crazy wait times. Im simply not prepared to wait that long, so ill have to look elsewhere.

How long were you prepared to wait on a custom order? December does not strike me as too bad. What is the current lead time on a MK7 GTI custom order btw? Anyone?

Check as well if there are any stock ones lying around or "cancelled" orders. There may be a few around if you want what they have.

Plenty of other dealers around. Don't be afraid to try interstate. Plane fares are cheap these days.

Alternatively, don't ask the dealer what their price is, tell them what you'll pay and leave them your number.

Yes agreed. I have done three interstate trip for car purchases. Two were Adelaide to Brisbane. One Sydney back to Brisbane same arvo.

Other states have bigger markets and less margin than locals at times..... Cheers Al

I asked the brighton dealer today and hoping someone here may shed some light as it's a concern if I purchase. I asked if my girl stacks the car and needs a new bumper and parts to fix, (most likely be me) how long will parts take to arrive....he said a couple weeks. But how can this be? If it takes months to get a car here at this stage, how can they afford to send parts when they don't have enough to finish off the builds that are back ordered. Reality is that these things do occur, Does anyone else have this concern?

When i had my Superb it had a rear ender, with the main parts, rear bar, cross panel and rear quarter available locally and other parts from O/S only a short time away. Air freight now days is pretty good. The biggest issue is if the panel beater has never done one before, no idea what they need and don't order everything, then you have a long wait as each time they order something there goes another few weeks if it is not in stock in OZ. I had one of these panel beaters and suffice to say 8 months and he still didn't get it right. In the end he bought the car off me as the Insurance Company were going to make him pull it apart and start again.
