  • Wagon rear bumper protector panel

Hi guys, has anyone bought one of these bumper protectors for their wagon?
Octavia II RS Combi 04-12 - rear bumper protective panel - Martinek Auto : superskoda.com

I think it may be a good idea to get one before my baby is born, I can imagine what will happen when putting the pram in and out of the car. Just not sold on how it looks in the photos, I know there is a stainless steel version as well but I think it may look too industrial and better suited to SUV or tradie work vehicle.

Oh, colour of car is candy white if that helps.

    Thoughts?

Looking at the photos the rounded top edge of the bumper, and the face of it are still going to be exposed to bumps and scrapes. I thought about one of these a while back. They might be OK for when the seats are down and you're getting a large item in or out, but they don't seem to offer much protection from prams, golf buggies, and the like.

I don't have to worry about prams these days, so unlike you I don't have the need for something semi-permanent, but I've got an old blanket that lives in the back of the car that gets draped right over the back bumper when loading/unloading anything larger than shopping bags. I simple flip it up and in when done, so I can drop it out and down again before unloading. Not pretty, but it saves the car getting scratched.

If you do get one on Candy White I'd go with the stainless. Anything black is going to stand out like the proverbial.

Here u go Its a bit hard to see being clear but you can see the edges Its on the Passat The edges around the sensor is a bit rough but was a bitch to cut out without a proper hole cutter The other two pics are of the door sills .

I took the film right down over the back of the bumper to the chrome strip Wasnt fun working it to fit but got it done in the finish

Car needed a clean when pics were taken so not normally any marks on it

Looking at one for my Fabia Combi vRS. The dealer quoted $84 and would probably fit it too (clear), factory option. Seems like a good idea to me.

Thanks Hillbilly, looks like a difficult job getting it perfect as you have mentioned. Door sills are another area prone to scuffing but I bought some scuff plates from superskoda to solve that, they look good too.

Door sills are easy Except the Passat ones are a two piece bit as the bottom part is separate.

I also put it over the stainless inserts in the sill to stop them getting scratched All up price for 2 cars was $90 including postage.

The scuff plates dont go down over the outside roll and it can get scratched especially with ladies shoes

                        lol.
I hate things getting left in the map pocket eg sunglasses, lipstick etc that rattle around while you're driving. Then you have to stop and walk over to the passenger side to throw them out.

I want to get one of those bumper protectors from superskoda to- let me know if you want to make a combined order (this goes for anyone reading) to save on shipping. Im in Melbourne.

I agree they dont go down over the lower edge that is above the sensors, so I'm going to put 3m scotchguard all over the bumper AS WELL like in a previous post. Currently I just have some carbon vinyl on there which does the trick and looks good all the same, but Im a mountain biker and if my previous crewman ute is anything to go by im going to need heaps of scratch protection everywhere on the back of the car

I like the idea of the attached flip out towell too

I saw somewhere the other day of a Dog mat for the rear that had a flip out flap like that. The lady over the road from me did that with a wheelchair to save the bumper on her new car Googled dog boot mat with flap and got these

While we're on the similar topic, does anyone know how to remove the rear bumper and the time it takes?

I have a few nifty mod ideas up my sleeve, including an RS+ style diffuser and a fake second right hand dual exit exhaust :p
