I'm John from Tigersoft Performance in Melbourne, and a Superchips dealer. If anyone has any problems or questions about Bluefin or the tune, please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to answer.
1) I'm dealing with Superchips in the UK now to find a resolution to the problems that dportaz reported.
Hey John! Thanks for that, would it be better for us to deal with you or Peter James directly? I had been emailing Peter but he might have been too nice to refer me on!
Peter James owns Superchips A/NZ, so he is the supplier to all of the Superchips dealers here in Australia. He is a really good guy, and a good friend, so I would have no hesitation recommending anyone deal direct with him.
My company, Tigersoft Performance, is the largest Superchips dealer in Australia, and the only one capable of supplying the full suite of Superchips tunes. There are several reasons why people might choose to deal with me:
- I'm a little easier to get hold of. I'm based in Melbourne, Peter is in NZ.
- I have a workshop in Cheltenham, so people in Melbourne at least can drop in and talk to me in person
- I generally sell Superchips products for $40-$50 less than the RRP
- Although I don't post here much, I've been a paid sponsor of VWWatercooled for about 2 years now.
At the end of the day, people will be happy with the service whoever they choose to deal with
Someone mentioned recently they dropped about 10 deg of temp by changing oil brands (not viscosity). I can't for the life of me remeber the detail - may have been Fuchs or Motul or the other "fancy Euro brand" that folks are onto.
Thanks, I might look into that further. also might check out an oil cooler with a thermostat if I start doing track days more often in this car.

2) NOO63N you picked up a bargain, well done! When you buy a second hand Bluefin, you are paying for the tune, not the handset. Buying a new tune for $225 is awesome.
3) Superchips ANZ charge $150 to reset a Bluefin less than 1 year old, and $400 to reset a Bluefin older than 1 year old.
4) Lucas_R is correct, once the Bluefin is reset it is completely reset, and the new owner will start with Stage 1.
Anyway, if anyone needs any help, give me a yell!
Cheers
John
Thanks for your info John, good to have someone locally who can support us too!
I'm going to ask a question to which I think I know the answer. Can a car automatically switch between remap and stock? (I would think not). The reason why I ask is sometimes when I drive my car it just feels really sluggish and almost stock like and yet other times I'm getting thrown back in my seat and saying "Whoah, now there's the tune kicking in". Any thoughts on why I might be getting this big variability in performance?
Tunes don't adapt to your driving, only the DSG gearbox with it's fuzzy logic does that
The driver needs to adapt to the new performance profile,
both in terms of the way the power comes in and how the engine responds to the throttle
Generally I use a lot less throttle now
There have been a few times where I've been disappointed with the response but mostly I've put this down to the DSG being one gear too low.
2012.1 Skoda Octavia VRS DSG Wagon - Carbonio cold air intake and pipe - HPA Motorsports BBK 355mm rotors 6 pot calipers
APR Stage II ECU - APR 3" exhaust down pipe & high flow catalyst
APR/HP Roll bars - Eibach springs and Bilstien shocks
Supaloy lower control arms - Enkei 18*8 Wheels
I seem to get more power when half throttle compared with WOT?
Me too. I've found that with most cars.
My theory is that the intake or the exhaust is incapable of keeping up with the flow demands of the throttle valve/flap/opening thingy.
I also get an occasional oddity where I give it a bootful, back off & then boot it again & the 2nd hit is a lot stronger than "usual". It's never actually down on power - just sometimes I get extra.
carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums
The first few days of my bluefin felt amazing. It actually felt a little slow down low but after about 3000rpm it just took off and pulled hard all the way til redline, particularly in 2nd. Now, similar to Martin, it feels the opposite. Quick down low but struggles to get to redline. It's like it's reverted back to stock after about 5000rpm.
Hmm I'll have another go in my car and see if mines doing it as well, maybe best to ask the superchip fellas, they normally email back within the day, especially Peter James who I've only dealt with so far. I know I'm still experiencing that 3,000 rpm kick at the moment and the < 3,000rpm feels pretty stock to me. Interesting....
