been a while since ive posted so I thought I would add a few updates.
the bargain hunting continues, I picked up a apr carbino intake for $50 plus $15 for shipping. Just the box and silicone, n clamps. but as I already had a k n n its essentially the same anyway. performance increases are marginal, bit more reponsive, little more torgue, revs out a little better, biggest improvement was to get the factory eye sore out of there, never seen such a poor, flimsy design in my life! Swapped out the std blue silicone hose for black from my mates at motorsport connections- hit em up, tell em benny sent you, they will only charge you 5% more . anyways enough gibber jabber
found some stainless steel interior bits on ebay for a reasonable price, a deadpedal and inserts for the seat height adjuster, really good quality for the $$ I think it was about $40 shipped for the lot
seat bolster needs a bit of work I no!
with the car clicking over 103k it was time to get my ultimate belt kit from ecs tuning fitted by a friend of mine at a workshop he manages. I got it done for both piece of mind as well as the fact that I plan on fitting the dump pipe and getting a tune with my tax return . He commented on the quality of the kit, and the car feels fit as afterwards, so I quess with the old belts, pulleys n pumps n watnot it wasnt opitmised, now ive got a few more horses in the paddock Also got him to fit a new cam follower. old one was worn a little, but not like the horror stories you see about on the net. also fitted a new dipstick tube and dipstick, as the old ones were cracked n crappy.
Cost me under $700 inc parts, freight n labour, so saved about $800 over getting it done by skoda, karching!
so as mentioned, next mods will be dump pipe n tune, but before that I will b fitting the supa pro control arms as traction is a bit of an isssue when pushing on in the dry, you can actually feel the front wheels lifting under power when exiting corners under power, and traction is always poor in the wet
do NOT attack it with a hole saw. youll just draw in hot air from the engine.
you need the stage 2 intake pipe, then youll near some noise not a huge amount, but better than stock. Im REALLY surprised how quiet these engines are, compared to my old nissans

What seller did you get that footrest one from? I can find 2-3 of them on eBay but they're $30 plus $10 shipping!
Yeah thats the one I found, still double the price of what you got it for if I but on its own I already had the seat handle badges. Looks like a pretty nice piece to cover with your foot though!

"Stage 2" intake pipe doesn't apply to the FSI engines - its only for the newer TSI engines which have a completely different intake setup. Also the stage 2 intake pipe on the TSI's does jack diddly squat and has a dreadful connection for a PCV line which leaks.
The Carbonio on the FSI engine does not increase noise but it is a better design than the stock inlet area near the grill. The main restriction for both noise and airflow on the FSI engines is that damn engine cover.
If you get a complete replacement intake (that involves removing the engine cover) then you will get alot more spool and sucking noises as well as some more power.
