Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Reversing LED (CREE)

Continuing my war against globes, having replaced the interior and boot lights with LED's and yet to install my LED fog lights, I decided to try some bright LED/CREE reversing lights - they are really bright and project backwards very well - nice crystal white colour too

Unfortunately they are not canbus bulbs - have to grab another set

(I have not installed LED's behind red lenses as it looks odd - colour wise)

maybe try red LEDs for the brake?

I believe kamold has installed LED lighting almost everywhere in his car. perhaps check with him the brands and where he got his LEDs

and then come back and tell the rest of us :p

The reverse globes in the SKODA are weak, and the low beam is renowned for yellow.
Itwould be nice to have better lighting inside too....

I'm waiting for someone to find some working LED indicators...

Either that or I'm going to hard wire in some resistors!

Not sure if the indicator bulbs in the Octy are the same as the Golf, but Bold Sport have some LED front and rear indicator globes for the Golf. They are about $40 each (pair).

Im thinking of buying some. A few guys with Golf's are using them on another forum with no issues (no Canbus errors etc).

There is also someone on ebay selling LED reverse lights that i have been thinking of trying. Not sure about canbus though: 1156 SMD projector cree white LED bulb/globe for VW Golf R,R32,reverse lights 5M | eBay

I sent a message to the ebay seller for the LED reverse lights and he said they work with no error and will refund if i have any problems.

                    Hey.

I'm not 100% sure those LED's will fit the Octy... I know the rear indicator is a bog standard bayonet cap (same as brake) not the T20 wedge.
Pretty sure the front is the same unit.

Another reverse light option from Bold Sport. Has bulb details in a diagram so it should be pretty easy to compare this to the Octavia's bulb.

Also just to put my 3c in anyone reading this, after the fiasco getting rear brake lights for my hatch (also the same as the rear fog lights) I have a big pack or OSRAM 21w/4 bulbs so if anyone wants some let me know. They will be much cheaper than what the dealers charge for the same thing.

                          Ok, one step forward

These white LED bulbs work with no error - but the red version does result in a canbus error
They are advertised on eBay as "25w WHITE CANBUS ERROR FREE CREE P21W 382 BA15s 1156 LED CAR BULB REVERSE"

the red ones need to be dual channel LED, similar to the dual filament globes from factory. I think they need to be brake/tail light LED

On the hatch yes, on the wagon there are three separate single filament P21W bulbs and a PY21W for the indicator
