  • RS Manual Wagons - rare?

So it looks like I will sell my R32 this week and looking to replace it with an Octavia RS Wagon. I really want to spend around the $15,000 mark and will only consider a manual. I went to look at one yesterday in Pennant Hills at the Alto Dealer (Yellow one on carsales) and a guy turned up 5 minutes before me and bought it! It was pretty much exactly what I wanted too!

So with Skoda only being newish in Australia I just wanted to check with the experts here whether they are hard to find. I'll be riding my bike and borrowing cars for a while until I find one. Checked all the usual spots and will just play the waiting game I guess.

If anyone comes across one or is considering selling let me know.

I noticed that one is still on Carsales so unless there are two, they must be slow in removing it, and judging from my experience helping a friend buy a new Lancer at Alto Mitsubishi you really don't want to have to deal with them (I hope they Skoda dealer is better). Shame though, that yellow RS was loaded! All the MY07/08 RS' are manual because the DSG came in from MY09, as well as the RS TDI and judging from early sales figures, even though a high percentage of Skodas sold were the RS, they would definitely be rare and the wagon would be even rarer. Considering there's only 20 litres seats-up difference, maybe you could consider an RS hatch?

Regardless, good luck in finding one! I still love the RS after 4 1/2 years of ownership.

Thanks Jake. The Yellow one seemed to have most option boxes ticked too. I've asked them to keep their eyes out for one for me.

Regarding wagon vs liftback; I much prefer the wagon styling so at the moment it is all I'm really considering. I have access to a spare car for January and February so if I have to wait I'm happy and able to do it.

They will all be manual until late '08 from then on, everyone most likely went DSG. I love my manual it was the reason I didn't bother with the 147 Jetta at the time. Well that and the fact its got a small boot opening compared to the Octys hatch.

I'm probably looking at pre-facelift. I think I like it a bit better and is more the ballpark $$ wise of what I am looking to spend.

There was an in between model of the RS in late 2008 into 2009 where the RS had the FL outside but FL inside including the Bolero. Those would most likely be out of that price range, but worth looking for as well. Although they were when the DSG appeared. The RS kept the pre FL outside for a while longer than the other spec Octavias, same as the Scout.

I looked around for ages for a manual wagon tdi. Finally i have ordered new. Only 5 more months to wait for delivery. Hopefully dArK you find one before mine arrives?

And no, I wasnt going to wait till mid 2014 for the new model.

Octavia wagon is the only manual wagon in VAG aside from a base model Q3 or an A3, not sure if the S3 comes in a manual. Unless you can find a RS4? The A3 is smaller than the octy though and Q3 boot is smaller than an A3's.

did u include any options with ur order?
when did u order? i was under the impression they (skoda) were no longer taking new orders in preparation for the new mk3 octavia.

I know it is not my place to push, but there are two on carsales at the moment for around $22....they look great....lots of options and low kms...

Is it worth stretching a bit further for the right car??

Thanks Tigger. I completely hear where you are coming from with that and I just might end up doing it but the reason I am getting out of the R32 is to save some cash so I am fairly keen with some (loose) financial planning in mind to spend closer to $15-16000. Just bummed I missed out on that Yellow one. Was just about perfect for what I wanted. I'll keep playing the waiting game I guess.
