OK the lights are from superskoda. that's easy.

I got the following parts from deytrade. cheap and fast shipping.

the plug you need for each side is:

      1J0 973 723

      that's a factory part number.

then you need 2 pins for each side. I accidently bought the 0.5-1mm pins, in hindsight I should have got the 1.5-2mm pins. the smaller ones are harder to crimp, but a dab of solder holds the wire into the crimped terminal.

the deytrade pins I got are:

      964285-2

      but I wouldn't use them.

if anyone wants a set of plugs and pins, bought twice as much in case I messed up, which I didn't so I have a spare set.

Mate, I have no idea how you worked out which plug and pins to order, I'm impressed!

Thanks ever so much for your help

I hate orange lights (and lights that run hot) and am eradicating them from the car
Have done the boot and interior lights
The yellow fog lights look stupid compared to the DRL and white headlights

On the weekend Skoda drive we noted that the Octavia 118 had better front end look and consistency
The chunky lower lights matched the main headlights
Where as the round fog lights on the VRS don't match

This is what I'm talking about

        Versus this on the VRS

I googled and checked out briskoda. someone had done it before me and kindly supplied information.

being DRLs on the RS fabia, they have a 'high' and 'low' setting. similar to our own. As im running them in my car as a fog light, I only use the 'high' setting

the 3 pin plug in my setup utilises only 2 of the 3 pins. I have pics of the pins/plug that ill post up a little later for anyone that wants it.

I can also perform the installation if anyone may struggle or just doesn't want to do it.

            Remove battery before starting this!

OK, this is the plug, if you want, cut it off and crimp new pins on for the new plug. I didn't, I disassembled the plug.

remove the brown cap with a small screwdriver:

            Now you have this:

Push the clip and slide the pin out of the housing:

Then you have this, repeat for the other pin:

That's all I can find on my skydrive. Ill put more pics up from my desktop. im fairly certain I took more.

More awesomeness, love this place, thanks

I will also run them at full power - makes sense

exactly, no point running them at 40%. there would be no factory way to switch them unless you removed your factory DRL and used the fog lights for that purpose instead, thus making the entire project a waste

How well do they work as fog lights?...

Could you post a pic of the beam pattern up against a wall?

yup ill take a pic next time I use the car at night

but the beam is higher than the 'normal' fogs. I cant do a comparison as you have my stock RS ones

                        they aren't foglights anymore.
                        they're DRLs now.

foglights throw a low, flat beam.
                        DRLs throw a high beam.

My plugs and pins arrived during the week - picked the parcel up from the post office this morning

I'm hoping to reuse the gromets currently in the car now - with the new pins
(If not I'll seal them with hot melt glue)

You can see the orange gromet at the back of the pin in this photo

I reused them I think. just carefully remove the pin clasp around the rubber boot

if not I have about 10 other ones if you need them!

I have coded the CH/LH feature to use the fog lights rather than the low beam main headlights - works well
I'm going to install HID and I don't want false triggering of the headlights in the garage etc
Will be even better when I get the LED fog lights in there
