    Hello everyone,

We're the team at Rockdale Skoda, we noticed a few people on the forum had some questions about Skoda and our Rockdale service centre so we wanted to come on board and introduce ourselves and help with any questions any one may have.

We've been operating since August 2011 and are currently located at 286 Princes Highway, Banksia, 2216. When you look this up on Google Maps it will show it being a Toyota dealership, that's because we had a Toyota dealership there a few years back and Google haven't updated the maps yet. Our Toyota dealership has since moved down the road to a bigger, separate space, and operates completely separately to our Skoda dealership. Our Skoda dealership is located almost directly across the road from the Rocksia Hotel for anybody that knows the area well.

We know our future success depends on the level of service we provide and we're sorry to hear that some of you haven't always been completely happy. If you have any questions about your service or your Skoda don't hesitate to send an email to our service team: service@rockdaleskoda.com.au or give them a call on: (02) 9503 9100 so we can help out in any way we can.

Just wanted to give my view of Rockdale Skoda.

Recently took the VRS in to look at a few issues and they resolved only 2 of 4.

      1) The drivers door was misaligned and they fixed this up.
      2) The air con was producing a vinegary smell when just on fan. They cleaned the dust pollen filter and it seems to have worked a trick.
      3) Refused to fix the annoying wastegate rattle issue http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...wag-62470.html. The service manager stated that his mechanic had clearly heard the noise and was well aware of the issue but would not be fixing it. I asked him to escalate this to VAG and he said he would do this and get back to me. This was over 3 weeks ago and I have not heard back since.
      4) Have a ticking noise (like a diesel) when the engine is on idle and they just dismissed this as 'normal'.

So my view is this, whilst they were pleasant enough, anything that required real work or a decent effort to fix was ignored.

They are my local service guys so was willing to support them (for servicing) but they haven't left a good lasting impression.

If anybody has had luck getting the above issues sorted on warranty with another dealer, please let me know so I can get them sorted and give the dealer the appropriate plug.

The ticking could be due to the high pressure injectors, maybe?
        Thats why the diesels tick.

Compare the engine noise of a Nissan Patrol 4.2TD to something like an... Octavia TDI!
Huge difference... Mainly due to the 25,000psi injectors.
2012 Octavia vRS TDI. Darkside big turbo, 3bar tune, other stuff. 200kW/650Nm.
        1990 Mk1 Cabrio. 1.9 IDI w/ 18PSI.
        1985 Mazda T3500 adventuremobile. 1973 Superbug. 1972 Volvo 144 in poo-brown.
        Not including hers...

the ticking sound is normal. I think also due to direct injection and the additional line pressure.

the wastegate rattle seems to be 'normal' too. get an ECU remap, doesn't rattle as much lol

I like the inverted "" around normal. You must work for Skoda as they seem to think rattling and noisy cars are the norm. You'd think a maker trying to build their brand would jump on these small items to keep customers happy

The ticking is normal for these direct injection engines. My A3 had it also. Small price to pay for the performance and economy benefits of direct stratified fuel injection.

no I don't work for them lol that said, they aren't skoda motors anyway. Maybe that's some of their 'charm'

I also had SR20DETs with VTC intake rattle, so im completely used to it

                  OK all.

just an update. Yep your right, direct injectors are the cause. Had it confirmed by your good selves as well as some friends with similar issue.

On the wastegate rattle. Contacted Skoda Aus and they were good enough to send out the part (goodwill) . Rockdale Skoda promptly installed the part and BINGO, problem solved. Well done to the guys at Rockdale Skoda given it was their first install of the part.

Moral to the story, chase Skoda Aus if you aren't getting any love from the dealers on a problem you know shouldn't exist.

I thought I'd share my experience so far with Rockdale Skoda.

We bought our Superb there a 2 months ago and soon after, on our first longer trip, we noticed an annoying rattle from the driver's seat belt buckle.

Took the car to the service centre at Rockdale Skoda. It's not a big dealership nor a big service centre but it looks like it has only recently been kitted out. The workshop looks very clean the staff is courteous and professional.

Explained the problem at the service counter and soon after had a mechanic in the car with me to show him the rattle. Drove around the block and they agreed to replace it under warranty but the part had to be ordered in.

Had to wait two weeks for the part to arrive - not surprised, my mud flaps took about that long to arrive too, seems Skoda HQ could improve the spare parts service here quite a bit.

Booked the car in for a Tuesday at 8am, was told I should be out in 15-30 minutes. Arrived at 7:45am but left at 8:45am which is quite good - they were running a tad late with the repairs. All in all, impressed so far - looks like a no-BS service. I'll definitely be taking the car there for the first service so we'll see how things are then...

im up for a 15k service, first one.

called around the dealers in the Sydney metro area. rockdale are by FAR the cheapest, so I think ill go there. after reading up on peoples stories, makes me want to go there anyway. if other dealers priced themselves better, I think they would have a chance.

is it weird my Octavia RS has no rattles? a squeak from the drivers seatbelt buckle, however.
