    The Bi-Xenons do a little dance (up, down, crosseyed, and then opposite to crosseyed) every time they come on which recalibrates them for levels and range of movement and focus.

      that's right...they have auto-leveling sensors. they r constantly adjusting - when going up hill; increase in passengers; increase in boot load; etc etc. essentially everytime the pitch of the car changes, the xenons r self-levelled.

      as mentioned by BlackSuperb, when u start they car, they recalibrate - go to their max & min points. looks kinda cool
      there's a clip on youtube showing this.....can't find it now!!!

        while we're at.....check out the dynamic (bending) feature of the factory fitted xenons. the same self-leveling system also does the bending.

          Don't pity them. They pay next to nothing in income taxes all their lives, their home loans are south of 4% p.a, they can even use a large part of their EPF superannuation to pay off their home loans, and their cab fares are cheaper than our parking charges.

            My memory with income tax in Singapore was that it was 30c/$ for everyone and they had super built into that.

              That's roughly right. Income tax is 10%. Employee contributes 20% of gross salary to super, thus adding up to almost 30% off the employee's salary. But the employer also contributes an additional 10% for the employee's super.

                Parking is cheap and so is the food. Yummy too, although it's difficult getting a home, unless you are rich and can go private Lousy weather as well...

                  Back to the topic title - it was great to see your VRS up close and personal yesterday morning!
                  Bargain options compared to VW, so it's no wonder that some GTI or Jetta buyers would find value in an Octavia, if it fits their needs.

                  However the Jetta's massive boot suited me best at the time of purchase, so that we could fit tons of luggage into the boot!
                  Bizi's Jetta TDI: Blue Graphite w. factory leather & tint, plus + Enkei Racing NT03+M + Yokohama S Drive 18s, Koni FSD, Neuspeed coils, GTI RSB + brakes, InPro mirrors, VW navi, Modshack. Come for a drive through the twisties on Saturdaze.

                    I could be nuts, but at the time I got the RS a few years back, the boot size in the Jetta was smaller due to being lower in height, and with the smaller sedan boot opening compared to a hatch of the Octy, it was the better choice for me lugging lots of stuff around.

                    When I hired a Jetta a few months back we also had issues fitting the same luggage from our Octavia into the Jetta (we hired an Octavia but Europcar substituted it).

                      The convenience of a hatchback is one of the reasons I bought my Vectra a few years back.

                      And the Octy's boot is even better!

                        yes the jetta has a massive boot for its size/class, however the octavia hatch has more boot space -
                        526L (jetta) vs 560L (octavia hatch).

                        and woofy has given a 1st hand example of this!

                          Compare those with the latest Australian "large family sedans"

                          Falcon = 504 litres
                          Commodore = 496 litres

                          When will Joe public learn?

                            *in sarcastic voice* But Commodore and Falcon must be quicker, they've got big V6 engines...and they're Australian made...

                              Oh of course and as we were driving down to Phillip Island on Friday in a new Falcon sitting in a line of traffic not able to go any faster or slower than the flow I was in the back seat watching the average fuel consumption gauge showing 11.3L/100km and trying to figure out what advantage the car had over my Octavia, then I realised - two cup holders in the rear armrest!

                                It really is a major fault on the Octy - I was searching for rear cupholders for the kids drinks at the weekend and couldn't find any! Of course, if this is a major fault.....
