You mean the rubbish ones with the internal microphone and poor functionality? You can't compare a well engineered product like the Skoda kit with all the functionality, audio quality and integration with an all in one POS.

Yeah, the integration and functionality is what attracts me. I like the MDI interface and being able to control my iPhone from the stereo unit, and like the idea of bluetooth just integrated with the car. Half of me figures that $900 is not much after paying so much for the car, and the other half thinks that $900 is half an airfare to somewhere nice.

Not sure what the "other half" thinks. She's taken the RS to the Blue Mountains for a conference over the weekend - why does she get to always take the car away for nice drives?

K1W1 i didnt think that the FISCON needed any coding... Just plug and play (well at least into the back of the Bolero).

Hi Bayford Skoda - what brand do you install into the cars? thanks.

We source our bluetooth kit through a company that supplies to VW in overseas markets. They dont sell direct to the public or to any other dealers but as they purchased a couple of cars through us they have been quite helpful to us. The system works very well and is compatible with over 700 handset's

Would have been perfect if you were up in Sydney lol Glad to see some dealers actively trying to help out the community though

So the Fiscon Basic-Plus unit was installed into our car today (the installer came to my home) and unfortunately it is not functioning yet...

The installer said they just put them in and they work. but not this time - he told me to contact the dealer...

So after he left I found the installation manual online (on kufatec's website) and read that the car's Can-Bus may need to be programmed. So I took it off to the dealer and they said they configured it for it to have a phone. But still no success.

Basically before the Fiscon unit was installed and when i hit the phone button it would mute the car audio. Now when I hit the phone button at least the display (Bolero Display) says initialising phone (or something similar) but it just sits their and doesn't do anything. music still plays in the background though.

I am not to sure what else to do.

The dealer mentioned that they would look at it next week which is fine - but would be good to try something at home first.

Did you check the settings on the MFD on the dash board using the wiper stalk?
There are some set up options there (badly explained in the pdf manual I downloaded) but I don't think any of them are so major that they will mean work or no work.

says initialising phone (or something similar) but it just sits their and doesn't do anything
That sounds like it can't find your phone. What sort is it and is Bluetooth turned on and is the phone in discoverable mode? Check the phone to see if it can see the Fiscon.

                  Edit.

I just looked at the manual. You need to initiate the pairing on the phone not the Fiscon. Have you tried that yet?

                  Pairing
                  1. Turn the ignition on.
                  2. Make sure the Bluetooth feature of your phone is turned on.
                  3. Start the pairing procedure on your mobile phone.
                  4. When prompted for a passkey, enter 1234 on your mobile phone.

                    Hi K1W1,

                    Thanks for your assistance.

Unfortunately their is no FISCON-MOBILE option on the MFD yet... I have a petrol RS so can use the steering wheel controls.

I have tried 2 types of phones an iPhone 3GS and a Samsung Z540 - have switched bluetooth on both phones and neither can find the Bolero/Fiscon.

                    thanks again.

Please keep us posted. I haven't given the go ahead for this to be done in my car yet, and I'm nervous that about the recoding required.

Sounds like something needs to be switched on.
My just worked but I wasn't there to see what they did to get things going during the installation.

Well all is good now. It seemed that the first FISCON unit was a dud.

Installer put a new one and it worked straight away. only took 5mins.

Very impressed with the unit so far - the only question I have is that I tried out the AD2P feature (stereo bluetooth) and it sounds tinny, definitely not playing through all the speakers.

                              schneller,

can you share who you bought the FISCON unit from? I notice you are also in Brisbane? Was it Prestige at Albion or a 3rd party? Also, my car is a manual and doesnt have the steering wheel controls. Does this matter?

                                Hi Tunes,

The car was purchased from Prestige and so was the Fiscon. But they had no idea about the Fiscon unit until I brought it to their attention. They wanted to either install a Parrot or Skoda unit.

I asked if they could install it instead of the Skoda unit and they looked into it to make sure their trusted installer carried the unit. Fortunately they did. Autoextreme was the company that installed the unit and it was a pretty quick job.

Main reason I went through dealer is because of warranty stuff. They were happy to cover the unit for 3 years.

I think they would charge around $1100 for the unit installed - which I think is just silly. Get one off ebay for half the cost and install it yourself...
