Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Virtual Cockpit Octavia III

Hi everyone, it's been some time since I last logged in... perhaps 2-3 years! But I still have my Octavia vRS Combi MY14.5 (Updated with flat bottom steering wheel and the vRS button!)

I thought to ask - as I've seen some details online in other forums.

The Virtual Cockpit for the Octavia.

OEM 5E0920790 Instrument Clusters - Virtual Cockpit Octavia 3 for 780.00 € - Instrument clusters

The part can be bought and fitted in the Octavia but a few questions...

    What is a VC?

I believe you'd have to have the MIB2 Columbus upgraded to MIB2.5 spec. As I have the MIB1 Columbus it might not work

Is there anyone else interested in getting this?

My finance finishes in Oct/Nov this year after having the car for 5 years - so I'm keen to refinance and keep the Skoda with some new tweaks and updates! Perhaps adding 30-50kW in engine mods too and oh, does anyone's RS fart when they change gears like the GTI/R Golfs? I've never heard a peep out of my RS!

Yes you need an MIB2.5 and screen for Virtual Cockpit to fully function. Also need to upgrade to a 3Q0 gateway module to get all the performance data to display in the performance monitor.
Apart from a lot of coding and adaptation that needs to be set correctly, you need to handle Component Protection with dealer tools (ODIS) and also adapt the immobilizer.
