Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • MK2 IBIZA - brake lights come on when pressing clutch. Any ideas?

    Hi All,

i have a strange issue on my 1999 MK2 IBIZA.
whenever i press clutch, i get my brake lights on.
and i just have to press it about 20-30%, not even all the way for them to come on.
i checked, where the pedals are, and i could not really see anything wrong there.
i'm suspecting that it is to do with the sensor of the brake pedal, but not sure.

has anyone seen this before, or knows how to fix?

    thanks!

checked for bare wire touching pedal?? or any metal due to tight wire?
or equal motion of brake pedal when pressing clutch thus activating switch??
