Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

This fault doesn't really relate to whats happening with my car tho..
From what I read if I had a faulty speed sensor the car wouldn't start at all. After ringing another mechanic he seems to think the car isnt getting correct fuel air mixture on cold start up sounds more like it to me.

After looking over the car yesterday I found that my breather hose was stuffed the previous owner had done a dodgy job patching it with electrical tape and glue..... I couldn't get the original hose so ive modified a hose I got from repco installed it and the car starts perfectly.

GTIs and Cupras don't have that kind of injection setup. The leads should really be dry, if WD40 gets you running the leads, I reckon it would run better with a new set.
