Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • SA New R36 Owner

    Hi All,

My name is Tim, I live in the southern Adelaide Hills.

After a couple of years eyeing them off i bit the bullet and purchased an R36 Wagon, none available in Adelaide at the time so i ended up flying to Sydney to pick up a MY10 Candy White Wagon with 62K on the clock and driving it home. Car was in pretty decent shape, MFD and RNS510 still had the plastic film on them! A couple of small issues but nothing major i can't sort out sooner rather than later, brakes in the next couple of weeks (ordered ATE from Eurobahn) then i think the previous owner may have skipped the DSG service as it's a little jerky on take off and in car parks so i'll sort that soon after.

Currently it's the family bus that the wife drives, I grab every chance i can to drive it myself but unfortunately it's not nearly enough considering it was the car I was after and not for her! No plans to mess around with it much, i'll bring it back up to scratch and just drive it i think.

Great forum so far, lots of friendly banter and solid info, I look forward to hopefully being able to contribute a bit as i learn more about the car.

    Cheers

      Hi again all,

Small update; after replacing the pads and rotors, about 95% of the jerkiness i reported at low speeds disappeared , it comes of the auto hold MUCH more smoothly now.

Waiting on Haldex service kit and then i'll get underneath and service it, the DSG and do the engine oil and plugs.

      Cheers
