Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • ACT Aussie built 1964 VW Beetle 1200

Hello from Canberra! I own an aussie built early 1964 VW Beetle 1200 (birch green) "Buggalugs". Found my Beetle back in January this year in the yard of A&R Auto Repairs in Mitchell ACT. After purchasing my Beetle, a lot of time and a lot of money, A&R Auto Repairs had my Beetle back on the road after 6 months due to them being very busy. My Beetle is completely stock, even it's original radio works, it's great! I mainly drive around town, up to the shops, go for Sunday drives with my kids, etc and have driven out to Collector NSW and Yass NSW so far, hoping to pop down to the South Coast soon. - Ben

Looks like a nice ride. I guess you know this is a watercooled Forum.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

Don't delete anything Ben. Thumbs up mate.
This isn't too far removed from my 91 Golf GTI experience.
Although I think your beetle is quieter in the cabin... certainly looks more comfortable too.

... and you've reminded me that I'm overdue for my bi-annual buzz cut
