    G'day everyone,
A quick introduction. I'm Rob, married with 5 mostly grown up kids with a 2012 TDI Passat wagon since new after previously having a TDI Jetta.
We do a lot of camping towing a trailer with our tents and gear and have done 2 trips of 8 weeks each with the Passat. The first trip was from Melbourne up through the centre to Ayers Rock, Kings Canyon, Darwin, Kakadu then across to the East coast, up to Cape Tribulation then back to Melbourne. Second trip was from Melbourne across the Nullabor to Perth and exploring the South West, then back to Melbourne.
Camping is with the good lady and youngest son.
Have done a fair amount of dirt driving on these trips and the Passat behaved beautifully, with the only issue a chipped windscreen.

    Cheers

    Rob

      That's some serious traveling.

Cheers and welcome to the forum.

        Thanks Paul,
The Passat is a brilliant tow car and we averaged 7.4l/100klm's on both trips. I'm surprised that we don't see many other Passat's towing, in fact I haven't seen a single one, apart from the odd garden trailer on the way to the tip.
I'm at the point where I'm looking at a camper trailer to replace the tents so will need to have a brake controller fitted to cope with the extra weight.

        Cheers
        Rob
