Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • El Cheapo Del Rusto Grande Restoration

    Morning Everyone,

Thought I'd steal the idea from a friend of mine and share the adventure that will be "El Cheapo Del Rusto Grandé" AKA Jack.

Jack is a Diesel Mk1 Golf, unknown year of manufacture as it would appear that it was never stamped with the date. It was bought by my friend at an estate auction in South Australia for the hefty sum of $20.

It had been planned that he was going to swap it with another guy for a set of roof racks to put on the golf he already drives, but that fell through (very long story, and also how the name Jack came about).

After that event, we started talking about how we wanted to defy the odds and get the poor old lad up and running (last registration ran out in 1996). He then offered it to me.

It's currently still sitting at his house waiting for me to find the time to get a car trailer out to pick it up.

    Cheers guys

That looks like a daunting task. I wish you well.

    Cheers
