Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hi
Yes, it was a laborious process to join, I can understand why this is though! Spammers and fishermen are getting smarter all the time. Once through, its all good. Its a once only process!
I'm a relatively new R36 owner. I was in the market for a new car after a bad accident and I was initially looking at the Tiguan. I took one for a spin and loved it, but fully optioned up it was over $60k... too much for me, so a friend suggested the Passat AllTrack as it has most of the options that I needed as standard. I can't live without SatVan, Bluetooth, a decent stereo, the stability options, leather etc, etc.
I work freelance in film/TV and I have to carry a fair bit of equipment with me when I work, so a wagon/SUV was essential. I priced up the AllTrack with what I wanted and it was high $50k. Then a friend who works in finance found my baby for me - a 2009 Icelandic Grey R36 wagon with every option available at the time. Evidently the previous owner paid close to $100k for it less than 3 years ago and I could have it for $45k... a no brainer really!
I took it for a test drive and wow! I had to have this car, right there and then!
The hard part was to try and stop salivating so I could haggle for a better deal!
The dealer knocked a grand off and had it serviced and also repaired the drivers seat leg cushion (R/H side). Evidently this is a common failure and I can see why, as to avoid squashing it on entry/exit, does take some manoeuvring.
I've since put some new matte-black 5 spoke alloys on it, a cold-air intake (supplied and fitted by BWA - huge difference) and had the darkest window tint allowed.
The R36 is a fantastic car, without doubt the best car I've ever owned!
Good to be here!
