Think I had to validate. Though just joined a few forums so hard to remember which required what!

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Caught me out too but I have a gmail address so this isn't the first site to have done that! Anyway glad I'm here now.
Oop's just been reading the rules and realised that I was caught because I'm outside Aus so had to be unlocked anyway!

CAPTCHA is evil and I'm always on the look out for alternatives. I've tried a few different alternatives over the years and each has failed spectacularly.
To give you an idea, with CAPTCHA turned on we get about ~100 new registrations a day (and alot of those are still spammers), when it was turned off it easy spiked over 1,000 per day :S Damn spammers.
As Finepics has eluded to, if you're within Australia 99% of the time you will fly through the registration process without any issues. If you're from the UK or the US it's probably slightly less and outside that it's down to probably 50/50.
Anyone caught has to respond to an automatically generated email then wait for me to read and action that email. Sometimes that's 5 minutes if I'm sitting at my computer but sadly sometimes that can be a couple of days if I'm away on business, at a car show or just kicking back with the family over the weekend. *Most* of the time it's less than 24 hours.
