Hi everyone. I service my dad's 2011 B7 Passat (1.8 TSI CDAA) which so far has included oil changes, new front brake pads + discs, new oil seals for the vacuum pump, getting the rear camera working, and replacing the water pump. I also fitted a Brink towbar for him.
Last year I saved the engine by de-carbonising the piston rings by soaking them with Berryman B-12 (toluene). The engine was using 1mL of oil per km, and the VW certified mechanic dad knows had said the engine needed to be replaced. After seeing the Berryman technique on Youtube I thought we had nothing to lose by trying it. Two days of soaking got rid of the sludge.
