i love this car. it makes many cry that there aren't more 2 doors in this side of the world.
RE: big doors. the frames dont swap over because of big metal window brace.
It might be a problem finding 2-door mk2 doors because they're a lot longer...
the 3A is one of the more popular motors.. it's a short block so with a bit of work they rev quite nicely.87' MK2 GTI

Seems it does like to Rev, has a nice sound while doing it too.
All in all its a car you would say, it goes 'hard', but its not fast or quick, which is exactly what im after, just want to chuck the missus in the passenger seat, and head out for cruises on the weekend, go have some wicked pub food and then cruise around again.
I'm gonna get it looking mega tasty for nats too. "Great Scott!"

Dubbed - The R31 is a great car, easy to drive every day, hell reliable, and with my mods list it can steer and get up and boogie as well. They are an awesome first car too! I've had 3.

Hmmm thats a good question, its bizzarre getting out of one and into the other, like chalk and cheese as they say.
Even though the 31 has an extensive mod list for a daily it is amazingly comfortable, one of the first things i noticed in the golf is that i can feel the tired old rubber bushes everywhere, e.g less responsive steering, steering also feels a little squishy. In regards to power its amazing, they feel very similar except the golf is willing to rev a bit more (One of the bad things about the RB30E, it doesn't want to spin), the torque delivery is quite linear like the 31, they will both gladly climb an incline in 4th/5th. The 31 seems to be more comfortable in regards to seating but offers less support. One of the most different things though, is the clutch. The 31 has a pick up point dead in the centre, with quite a short friction point (Exedy Organic HD), its quite heavy but it grabs gears lightning fast, the golf lets out closer to the top (Like my old 20V Corolla) and is very slightly spongey in comparison. I'm unsure if this is typical of FWD transmissions, but i'll give the clutch a bleed and see if it firms up.
Looks like i'll be after a full set of Powerflex Urethane bushes in a few weeks, probably do sway bars at the same time. Also camber bolts i think they are called? It seems my car is running some negative camber all round at the moment, i'd like to run a touch more on the front.

camber adjustment on the front is a good idea, but i'd be surprised if it doesnt already have some in there - you may be able to ajust it already.'07 Touareg V6 TDI with air suspension
