  • Newbie with a fun Oct vRS mk3 preFL

Thanks to everyone who posts. There’s a wealth of knowledge.

The found your forum from basic google searches.

    I’m the second owner of a 17’ Octavia vRS mk3, 162, pre-facelift, manual.

The original owner kept everything serviced and finally sold it after their dealer extended warranty expired, so I scooped it up.

I haven’t had a manual for a while but got back in the saddle and loving it again.

I’m pretty good at car maintenance and look forward to getting some more info on how to push a little more fun out of the car (aesthetics and performance).

Hi and welcome. Nice choice with an Octy 162TSI vRS and bonus points for finding a manual (I bet there aren't too many manuals). Did you get a wagon or the liftback?

An ECU tune (commonly referred to as a 'stage 1' tune) is the easiest and most cost effective way to give you some additional performance, and takes the power up to around 190-195kw and gives you a nice bump in torque. With a manual, its the torque you will need to be careful with as the additional torque can overpower the stock clutch, causing clutch slip. So most tune options will offer a lower torque version which is for manual cars to preserve the clutch.

Aesthetics - everyone has their own idea on what they think looks good and what they like. But whether its new wheels, suspension, bodykit parts etc you want, there is plenty to choose from to suit your style and budget.
