While I was living in the UK back in 2011, my work lent me a 2010 VW CAVD 118. I totally enjoyed every minute. At high speeds over 150km/h (hey, I was living in Europe ), it was absolutely smooth with superb handling. After coming back to Aus (VIC), I wanted to buy one badly but due to bad stories, I decided to give it up and ended up buying a highly modified 2010 Ford Focus XR5. Finally in 2022, I bought a second hand 2011 CAVD manual, which had recently got revised pistons, new timing chain, tensioner, pistons, cleaned intakes, water pump and a few others. So far, there have been no issues. I always use 98 Octane and do regular oil changes. I don't have to top up oil like other VW owners I know. VW advised that the new pistons (replaced in 2021) are stronger than the originals but I don't know how far it's true. Does anyone have any views? Are there anyone who experienced piston cracks for the second time? Many thanks
