Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    How's it going everyone?

A couple of months ago my Mercedes R350 was written off.......by a rat. Yes, a rat. Chewed through the wiring and rooted everything. Thank fully it was covered by insurance. Anywho..... not really needing such a large car anymore, and the financial controller owning a 7 seat 4WD as well, I decided I would buy a toy. The pre-requisite was it had to be unique, quirky, cool with the potential to possibly one day be a bit of a collectable, had to be sporty without being undriveable, suitable to be either a daily driver or weekend machine, and not to be owned by knobs ( WRX's instantly ruled out ). Having kids it also needed to be a 4/5 door so I could throw a couple of the tin lids in the back if needed and do soccer duties or school runs etc. Oh, and to not look like a boy racer type of thing. Being 48 years of age my days of backward baseball cap wearing and pumping subwoofers are over.
I'm more into throwing a picnic hamper in the back and squirting down a country road or 3.

Soooooooo, I bought an R32, MKV. Has 90,000 odd klms on it, 5 door, reflex silver, 19's, brake and suspension upgrade and new head unit, other wise stock.

To say I love it is an understatement. That exhaust note is intoxicating. It's the type of car that you can have fun in it without driving like a loon. Every time I drive it I just smile.

My mechanic has endorsed it ( thank fully ) and it's booked in next week to have a full coil over kit installed, along with cold air induction. I do plan to get it tuned and have the DSG tune done too, but thinking of waiting to do that until after the 120000 klm DSG service. Other than that, I'm going to leave it relatively stock. I think

    Cheers!
