Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi all.

    Doing the mandatory post lol.

    I don't really like VWs that much tbh...hassle city with both a golf and a polo.

    I have a 2010 1.2L turbo 6 speed and just did an engine swap to a 2013 motor thanks to a weak timing chain.

    I'm a few hours away from finishing the transplant and have noticed some slight differences even though both have the same CBZB engine coding. Figured I'd jump on here to hunt for some knowledge if I need it.

    Peace out

    Sorry to hear about you needing to do an engine swap

    Suggest posting up any questions in the Mk6 forum area or in the specialist area for best visibility: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/f55/

    Though the number of people attempting these sorts of conversions/engine transplants is going to be small.

      Sorry for the delay in reply!

      Glad to say it worked. The only things I encountered were:

      -The manifold onward from the old motor had to be attached to the new one (inclusive of turbo) as there is a difference in the turbo outlet angle and;

      -There is a rubber hose attachment which enters the rocker cover then goes into the firewall of the 2010 polo. On the 2013 motor, this hosing simply joins back into another hose located on the engine via a T-piece. I just changed it to reflect the 2010 setup.

      You are right....there is bugger all advice out there for this particular job! Simple things like drive shaft lubrication specs and some torque settings take awhile to source even with the help of VW.

      Thankfully it runs like a boss now. The 2013 motor feels way smoother and I managed to do the clutch right.

      Thanks for your input Tigger and if anyone ever needs to swap a motor for a 2010 Polo....well....let me know haha.
