Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi all,

Great forum you have here! Hoping someone can assist me... never owned a Volkswagen before so I’m wondering if there is something wrong.

Just purchased a new 162 high line Tiguan with the R-Line package, Dap and sunroof. Just had a question regarding brake noise, when applying brakes while driving I hear a single click noise coming from either the pedal dash area? A couple of times there is no sound. Sounds like it happens when it triggers the brake lights. Everything works fine but it’s jist the click sound!

Is this normal or something has gone wrong?

    Thank you.

Thank you for reply and yes I am loving it! Money is well spent! But it’s just that sound when applying the brakes that is getting to me! Best I can describe it is like a switch sound. I don’t know what it is but waiting for the dealer to get back to me. Hopefully it isn’t serious and gets resolved.

Yes they are a enjoyable car to drive, like yourself it's my first vw and the first new car I have ever bought but more than happy with the purchase. My only concern to date is if my front
assist/city braking is operating as it should, a very hard issue to test. Hope you get to the bottom of your noise.

Thank you! And yeah I can see where you are coming testing that. I guess you just have to trust it should all work when it needs too. Is there a reason for you to think it wouldn’t work? Yeah this is my first VW and tbh don’t think it will be my last! They are great to cruise around in! Just solid cars and well made without getting too over the top with costs.
I hope it is resolved too and will you updated!

I question the system purely because set on early detection I can not get a alert on the dash leave alone braking of the car with me driving up way to close on another vehicle, by the time it would go through its sequence of alert, short brake then full brake I would be on top of the other car. I am very happy with all the other systems like ACC, Adaptive Lane Assist and Traffic Jam they all work perfectly.Cruise control even holds the set speed going down hill by changing down a gear or two. Fully agree with you about quality, features for money out laid. I spent many months doing research and test drives before deciding on the tiggy.

Sorry for the lateness in reply! I can see why you would be worried, but I should sure hope and trust that all systems will as intended when needed (hoping we never do). However I did have a warning pop up the other day warning me to brake when there is nothing in front of me... I assume it maybe something blocking the camera and it set it off. But hasn't happened again since. I came from a CX-5 and the cameras on those things were really sensitive... I had to adjust my driving so it wouldn't set off the emergency auto braking. I found that to be a bit too dangerous too as at those times anyone behind us would surely not stopped in time.
